I need something to follow my little boy around the neighborhood on. He wants me to ride with him but I have no bike. Naturally, a $40 yard sale bike won't do.

I found this "Classic Series - Coppertone" Schwinn on their website but can't find a price. Anyone know if they have been released yet and what one sells for?

Thanks, Jim

I'll probably have to sell my minibike to afford one but that's OK.

Its not quite "quality time" when one of us has training wheels and the other is running 30 mph with an open header. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This one would probably appeal to more folks here. The "Grey Ghost".

I don't know about those, but my "new" Stingray "chopper" was $177.83 out the door at Wally World.

Those are prolly double that. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cool bikes though!

Hmmm, Harrison added -

Soooo, get a minibike for yourself and learn how to ride without the training wheels.

As for me, I picked up a Giant OCR3 to follow my kid, which pulled a Tag-A-Long when he was littl'r.
BTW, bicycles pulling trailers is OK, until you get over 30 mph... 8->

P.S. Things are going along in the legal manner as regards my son.

i bet the quality on those things will be terrible, at least compared to the originals. that "new"stingray is a piece. the quality of it is awful.

check out nirve bikes. they make some awesome retro styled bikes that you'll be able to enjoy for years, or just buy an og schwinn from ebay. i built my 72 coaster part by part from the net, and it was much cheaper than i figured and will be worth more than i have in it if i ever decide to sell it.

Check out your local Goodwill store. At the main location for ours, they have a "pound store" where they sell stuff they don't want to sort or fuss with. I can buy bikes there all day long for $10 each. Lots of mountain bikes but some cruisers too. Even some oldies to rebuild. Good luck.

I saw an old guy riding a cruiser style bike with a 5 speed automatic. It had some counter weights in the rear wheel like a governor. He said it worked great. I don't remember the maker.

Go to Lovely Lowrider (http://www.lovelylowrider.com,) ... you can configure you a decent bike for around $200... continental spare and chain steering wheel are extra, tho!

The copper Sting-Ray was about 200.00 and the Grey Ghost was about 300.00.

They are gone but you might find one on e-gay or at your local shop. (bicycle store)

At X-mas there will be a limited supply of Pea-Picker's. Get ahold of your local shop cause the ones I have coming are already spoken for.

Go get an original from Bucyrus Ohio next weekend at the antique bike show or wait till the last Sunday in April and get one at the Worlds Largest Antique Bicycle Swap Meet in Saline Michigan......

DONT GO TO LOVELY LOWRIDER... Those guys suck ass...About 8 years ago I decided to import some of their bikes into australia, back before anyone could get any sort of old school bikes, so I bought a tonne of stuff off that guy, bieks, wheels, forks, lights, all cash upfront and got him to send it to oz. The fucker just threw all the parts in a boz and sent em sea freight, no packing in the boxes!!! Everyone of my 69 spoke rims was fucked, all the forks were scratched from where the rubbed on each other, plus all my bikes had tonnes of scratches on the frames from where wheels/pedal assemblies hit each other. and to top it all off, he forgot to send me half the stuff. I'm not sure how he does business these days but I would not recommend anyone to him....sorry about the rant...been waiting a long time for that!!
