I know rust inhibitors have been talked a bit here, but I have a little different question.

I am looking for a clear rust inhibitor. Something like a clear coat that I only have to apply once and it stays until I physically remove it, but stops further oxidation.

Iīve used regular epoxi clear,2 comp, canīt say itīs exactly rustpreventive, but itīs tough and bites the bare metal pretty good.there are some "clearcoatyourcastironchassisparts" types of spray paint out there, but youīll need 5000 cans to get a layer thick enough to be water proof, youīll need atleast 300my thickness, and whith 2 comp epoxi you get that in two or three good coats, compared to spraycan it for like 50 coats.

I just use OSPHO. It's Phosphoric acid.
Turns red rust to black and gives the bare metal a little bight.

There's no such thing as a perfectly clear rust inhibitor that lasts any length of time.
There are clear coats, and glazes that work to some degree, but they all have their failings.
That's why there's metallic coatings, powdercoatings and so on.
They all have their failings.Basically the biggest problem with clears is that they yellow, crack, and chip. Plus they all detract from a well polished finish.
The best is not to over prep and allow the clear something to bit to, and then if it's applied well it will give you a decent finish and last fairly well.
