Hey guys, is there a difference in the steering box or the shock mounts from F-1 to F-2? If there is, im guessing if anything the f2 would be more heavy duty? If it is different, would f2 boxes and shock mounts be a poor choice? And why is the f1 box so popular over anything else (excluding maybe the corvair counterpart). Adaptability? Quality? idk........ Please help me out if you can.

My Ford chassis books have left, never to return again I'm afraid.

But, the steering box and shock mounts I pulled out of my '48 F2 are exactly the same as the ones I pulled out of a '49 F1.

BTW, there are lots of cool parts in those early F2s. Look at the rear lower shock mounts, bump stop brackets, some of the parts on the rear axle are the same as on open drive banjos, the backing plates and brake guts are similar enough to '40 Ford parts.
