well the plan is to chop 4" out of the top box up & X the stock frame and run a blowen flathead V8 with ether a C4 auto trany or a T-5 trany not sure.Z the rear frame add a ford 9" in the rear with a four link and coil overs. the front will be suicide with a three link (maybe) the color is going to be stock and all the weld will show. as for the rim not sure what rims will be used but the stockers will no longer be used (i think) i have welded the top above the doors so far now i am going to start bracing the inside and then start my cuts. i hope by morning the top will be cut off and maybe be put back on. i am doing this all by my self so well see. if any of you local guys are not doing any thing stop by i mite need some help. my nuber is 512-917-6503 i should be here all night. i will post pixs as thing go. see ya'll later tonight got to get back to it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

HA! Funny you should mention that. I'm at this moment dismantling the mocked up Jeepalopy and hauling it to the shop for Phase 1 of frame and suspension booty fab. Stay tuned.
So your frame will look similar to this?
Yeah but his is gonna drive around and stuff. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Say! that fancy blue grille looking thingy would've been the PERFECT pig rack!
Come to think of it, it would make a good pig holder!?
Crow, I am just a guy with very little money by time and some skill to put into this car. Sure I could have driven it 4 months ago if I slathered primer on it but this way I want have to tear it back apart after I start having fun driving it! BTW, that blue paint cost a sum total of $45 per gallon. Definately not gold chainer stuff.

You got things going your way. Take care of the family every minute you can. I know it is easy to get side tracked when trying to get it going. Nice progress. It is amazing what you can do when you have a vision and some goals of completion. There are so many cool rods sitting in garages that are unfinished. Keep the drive and desire alive and you will have one hell of a ride. Continue to keep us posted on the progress.

Nice detail shots of the chop, Like Tudor I would like to know your reason for cutting it where you did versus in the middle.
Tman, I like what you have done.. Paint is good. I am trying to decide on a color now, something you would ahve seen in the late 50's or early 60's for my sedan

09-10-2004, 08:28 PM
Hey dude if you spent more time marking out the chop, and geting nice cuts in there it would have saved you hours of trimming and filling gaps with the welder.... best thing ive found yet for cutting tops is a .6 4 1/2 cutting disc made by a company called Klingspur.. cut through steel like a hot knife through butter... Youll get a better tack if you clean off the old rust and paint off the weld areas .. again only mention it to save you time and grief. Whats the rush .. aint no competition..

this is the first car 4 link i have built. i have done a few 4 links for off road buggys but i thing i got just enuff angel in the 4 link so i woun't need a panhard bar. but if i do i have a cool way of adding one. just you wait and see http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif i have big plans. i tell you what if i was building a rockcrawler this thing would have good wheel travel in the rear http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif .

Edwin,
A few questions for ya.
1) Will those motor mounts hold under torque? Maybe add some extra bracing from the bottom of the frame to the mount?
2) What are you going to use for a radiator hose? Maybe take the radiator to a shop and have the outlet moved? You dont want it running across your fan.
3) What tranny did you go with?
4) Want to test out that Mustang rear seat I told ya about? There is one at the shop, but I wont be out there for a few weeks. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Once you get that tank plumbed I want to see it. I know where a few of those kegs are at and was thinking about using one the same way. Also, I have been trying to find you a old set of headers, but no luck yet. I will keep looking.

ya it has not been that long from that night at the bar. don't know if i ever told you thanks for the motor mount you sent me. so if not thanks.
hell fish
i just put the radiator in to see were i needed to have the hose moved to. you don't want to have it moved before you get every thing in place cause you mite have it moved to far or not enuff. you all ways want to mock up first then take it a part and nail it down this way your not having to buy new parts over & over. Trany? i ended up going with a A.O.D
Smokin Joe
10-11-2004, 11:33 AM
Man, I've been looking for one of those Pony Kegs. All the ones around here must have been recycled. Same for the big kegs. Just the ugly newer ones. Sigh...
Wanted to put a Pony keg up front, a big keg in the back and name the car "BEER RUN!" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

try PMing Hell-Fish and ask him to hook you up with one. or i can call him and let him know your looking for one.
beer run would be a cool name for a car it two kegs.my pony keg is from spoetzl brewery INC D.O.B 9-"64 shiren TX. think it will go good with a Texas car. i am going to use the Shiner beer tap handel for my shifter.
