I know theres enough posts going around already about Indian Larry, but heres my experience albeit a small one.
In 2002 I headed up to Brooklyn for the Rumblers show for the first time. I needed to shoot more pics of Roger Miret's car for a feature anyway, so I hitched a ride and headed up.
While I was there I got a chance to meet Larry and Paul Cox. Paul had just put together his Harley thats now covered in leather, but at the time was bare primer and un-finished. Soon Larry pulled up on his red bike. At that time, Motor Cycle Mania had just come out and I was just learning who he was, and what he was about. I instantly respected him, even if it was a TV portrayal, his true personality came out. So now, here he was right in front of me. I honestly didn't know how to approach him or what I would say. I really felt that I had nothing to ask that hadn't been asked. So I kept quiet and sat next to him under the BQE. I learned that his shop was somewhere close by and I wished I could have seen it. So, while I sat there in silence, others that know him began to talk to him. His conversation was very expressive and I watched him go through a number of facial expressions as he talked. Plus, he listened, not just waited to talk. I grabbed my camera and walked a few feet away. It was loaded with black and white, so I fired off a sequence as he talked. These four images say more to me than any other I have taken. This year I went to the Rumblers show again, expecting to see him and maybe get a chance to say something and give him these images. He was still in Sturgis, so I never got a chance.
Take time and look.....Please wait until I have posted all four.
