Howza Bruthas,
I have found an abandoned '85 peek-up with a 351W in it and was wonderin' what the advantages would be by putting these on a 302 Ford.

None.

After '77, 351W & 302 heads are virtually identical.

You want the 69 or 70 351W heads. Then you got something! Also have the heads remachined to the lager Chevy intake and exhaust valves for more performance.

The best stock, cheap heads are the GT-40 P heads. You can buy new ones ready to bolt on for under $600 which is about how much a set of old crap will cost you to get rebuilt with new guides, seats and valves. These are supposed to be about the best commonly available heads Ford made for the W motors.

Only problem w/GT-40P heads is exhaust port is in different location than rest of 302/351 (why they work so well) - head was designed for use in the Explorer line. Requires unique headers in many applications.

Another potential problem is if you have pre-77 engine, you will now also need to change pushrods as well. Pedestal vs stud-mounted rockers use different length pushrods - commonly available & cheap enough, but something not to overlook.

For not much more than GT-40P heads, however, you can get World products cast iron heads - flow much better than GT-40P & cost under $700 or so.

For a mild engine, you'd be hard pressed to beat Edelborck heads for out of the box performance. They're aluminum too, so you lose a fair bit of weight too. For my $$, best "out of the box" heads for most applications.

Junkyard bolt-ons (in my order of preference):

'69 351W heads
'70 351W heads
'71-74 351W heads
'68-70 302 heads
