Does anyone else remember this show? Buzzard and I watched all the time when it was on and I taped a bunch of them but the tapes are kinda bad now.

I was telling 67ImpWagon and K&R about it (Phil don't remember it and Eric was a bit too young maybe) and they had never even heard of it.

I still remember the Chris Isaak music in the two parter and the other one that had Johnny's (the JD sidekick) car get stolen and it went from a 49 or 50 in black with a chop to a yellow 51 with no chop when they "found" it (and a funny line about paint colors and the Fantasy Island actor who's name I can't remember at the moment).

I had my merc at the time but it was stock and that merc in the show is why I have a 55 Desoto grill.

Anyhow, anyone else remember the show?

They say on the page the merc was a 48 but it was a 49 or 50 merc...and the caddy may have been a 58 because I think it had four headlights but I can't remember. I can't find any pics of the cars on the web.

I have them on tape as well. They did run it in the Swedish television (controlled by the socialistic goverment...) and it was a real kick to see something like that on TV over here.

Yeah i can remember that series when they run it over here, wish they would re run it or put it on dvd. Think the Cad was a '58 but thats a few yrs ago & my memory has gone for a dump, i do remember them playing Gene Vincent though & the Merc.

I remember that show as being really bad and really cool at the same time. The "Gone Ridin'" drag race scene is all I really remember. Oh, and when he makes the boilermaker with the "bad" girl at some roadside bar.

If I remember (or heard right...) the yellow Merc was Gene Winfield mole for fiberglas parts, and the fenders that was thrown away was made of fiberglas. That car did later end up in here Sweden. The black Merc that Johnny Betts drove was also build by Winfield. But all this is only rumors I´ve heard and I cant confirm it. Someone out there with knowledge?

The merc was built by him and had kickstand exhaust...about a year after the show was gone the thing was in Hemmings and I had saved it for years but now it is lost or has been tossed out. I think it was a 49 but I can't remember anymore. I remember the boilermaker scene with the "vamp" chick, the race with a 55 chevy that had flames, and the bar full of rods in the parking lot in the one when Betts car got stolen...I would love to see these again. My copies are trashed and you can't watch them.

I remember that show. Josh Brolin played Johnny Betts a ex-cop investigating his brothers death I think. That show came out in the late 80's and didn't last long. Joe Jackson did some of the music too. It was a good show though. Crime Story I liked also.
