ralph...
everything with the HA/GR cars is touch and go at this point.
we've spoken with the guys at famoso and they have enough common sense to see that these cars are O.K. to run even though there is no 'officical designation.
we may need to make some tweaks to make them a little more....ahem....'legal'...but at this point we're playing it by ear.

Racer,
About a month before the HA/GR cars ran at Bakersfield I had a meeting with Bob Park, Division 5 Director and Bob Blackwell, Division 5 Tech Director, and was told NHRA wouldn't let our cars run at ANY NHRA track since they didn't meet the NHRA rules. That meeting was in April.
The day after they ran at Bakersfield I called Bob Park and ask why they were allowed to run...did the heads at NHRA change their minds? To date I still haven't got an answer. However shortly after that we were invited to bring our cars to a big nostalgia meet here at KCIR. I was told we could run the 1/8th mile.
I think it will be difficult to plan any HA/GR race at a NHRA track until we have some official ruling. I'd be upset if we towed the car several hundred miles then was told we couldn't run.
The Bakersfield race was organized by "Zombie". If you do a search here I'm sure you can get more details. Maybe Alteredpilot can shed more light on the situation. I'm still in the dark and would appreciate any info available.

The ANRA is working real hard to give us a place to race on the west coast. We have tried to build our car to be legal, mig welded, tubing size, 5 point cage (by this weekend) to name a few things. For now we'll run the open wheel class until we have enough cars for Butch to create a class for us. Look us up Ralph this weekend , maybe we can all get together @ the Pot Luck afterwards. Rocky

Ron... After talking with a couple of Track people.. They thought the cars were going to run around 120-130 mph. When they were told the actual speeds were. They sort of changed their minds.. But did say, Up to date Belts, and complete driving gear..

i've been over this before, but for the sake of clarity...
bakersfield did NOT want to let the cars run. their just kind of easing up right now.
NHRA really does not want to be bothered with these things right now.
its not that they arent LEGAL just not classifiable according to the rule book.
its nothing but a huge headache for them. THATS WHY RYAN RUNS THE HAMB DRAGS AT A NON SANCTIONED TRACK.
the division directors can make judgement calls. i'm not even sure that the division 7 director knows that they are being run. probably better that way.
this is a track decision. period.
as a side note...
at this stage in the game, i dont think its the best idea to go ruffling feathers and raising flags with the suits. proceed with caution.
that being said...
we're still trying to figger out all the angles.
we believe some stricter chassis standards for ANRA LEGAL gas rails will alleviate alot of growing pains.
if you wanna play on their field you have to play by their rules.
we have no guarantee that they'll let us continue to run.
As an organization we're trying to get the econo inline/flathead gas rail as an official class when we submit our ASO for approval by the suits.
for now...we're encouraging guys who want to run here at bako to use common sense in building their HA/GR.
