I have a 31 Model A coupe and when I was installing my new windshield I noticed that the top wood is rotted out. Is it easier to replace with metal and do away with the wood or replace back with new wood?? let me know what yall have done to fix this. I would prefer to replace all the wood with metal. Please show pics if you have them.

Replacing the roof wood isn't all that bad. I replace all of the wood in my '30 coupe in a weekend. From what I remember, most of the time was spent getting the old wood out. The wood kits out there fit pretty good.

When I did the 29 coupe, the wood was pretty well rotted but there was enough there to make patterns. I took some plywood and cut out each piece. Then took some sheet metal and made pieces 1/2" larger all the way around the pattern. Next I clamped the sheet metal to the plywood and wrapped the 1/2" around the edges working slowly with a hammer. There were a few tight spots that required a little heat but the rest went around fine cold. The reason I used the metal was I didnt have the bucks for the wood kit.
