Yes another Aussie sorry to say.

Been hangn around these parts for a while and thought I would finally say Hello.

I am building a budget Hot Rod. I want the car on the road for around 8K give or take. I have the fast shiny car ,now want to build a car that’s just pure fun.

Car its self I got for free off my grand farther. It’s a 1928 Chevy Roaster.
I have a old 1969 Holden van with a 253 Ci Holden Motor in it, 4 speed box, 8 ¾ ford diff. This was a parts car for another project, paid $800. But I ended up not using any of this gear in the end.
Front end will also be donated from the HG Holden van. Interior will be a bench seat out of a Toyota truck/Ute with a Mexican blanket.

Wheels will be a set of American racing rims I have had since the 90s.

No paint just the panels as you see them. Minus a few small rust repairs.

Chassis will be professionally prepared and is my main cost as I do not want to compromise safety.

Here is a few pics.

All I really want is a fun car to drive, This gigga will be a pure grass roots Rod with no fancy bits.

What a great project...keep us posted on the progress. When you get ready to wire it up, I have a Rebel Wire distributor in Austrailia....

You have a good start.
Here is an old Hop Up from the late 30s for inspiration ;)

29 Chevy's have a great front axle and springs , Hell there is hardly any suspension work to do, later brakes and steering box ( up to 50s pickups and late 30s cars) will fit pretty easy, get a 302 Jimmy inline six and use the 4 speed from the Holden , keep the tradition, first six cylinder Chevy... the 302 will out perform any old 253.

What he said ^

Please don't put a HG front end in it. It will lose so much of the early feel.

Welcome to the HAMB (belated)

Ditto what striper said. And I'm still trying to figure out what a 8 3/4" Ford diff is, must be an Australian thing to say for some reason.
