A friend of mine is starting another project and asked me if I knew the easiest solution to his question.

I don’t but I bet someone here does.

He is from a more Street Rod orientated background so that is the semi O/T part..

It’s still old car stuff though. kinda..

He has removed the floor and chassis from his ’66 Suburban and just bought an ’80 Caprice wagon that he will pull the complete floor and chassis from to sit the Suburban body on.
It will gets bags and he wants the tires to fit up inside when it’s on the ground…

His question was;

Is there a narrower rear that will bolt in with minimal hassle?

for those that I have given shit for posting bag and late model street rod crap..

I still love you. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

just guessing here, but a malibu axle maybe?I think it would be better to build it on a narrower chassis than the caprice,to get better wheel well clearance,and to get a deep dish in the wheel.it´s no fun to have it on the ground if you can´t drive it like that.
