Just bought this yesterday. 1946 English Anglia. Right hand drive. This was a pretty famous car back in 1992. The guy who had it let it go to sh%t. I drove it some today. Ultra hot 2000 cc 4cyl, 4spd. Needs some TLC, fresh paint, major tuneup, and minor brake work. etc.

Hey Rusty, found the feature on that car, it`s in Rodders Digest #49 Oct.92. Thats the copy that has the 92 nationals flood coverage.
Ask ol "just Steve" maybe he can tell you more about the car.
Oh, and NO you cant have it,RD`s are like gold!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Say`s it belonged to Stewart Woolard of Essex England...is he a HAMBer?
I remember this car getting tons of coverage in 92 because he drove accross America to B'ville the nats, everywhere.
Lets see some close-ups of the sponsers on back.

Stewart has been with Fairlane Co in michigan for quite awhile....he was at the midland swap meet last month with a bunch of old car junk for sale....fab32 filled his pickup for his own personal "Thousand Cars and Parts Pileup"....Fabs motto...."If I don't have one...I certainly NEED one!!!" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pretty sure he owned that car a couple years ago. He had pictures at a swap meet, thought it was neat.

I can't believe you sold that Sedan, and bought that thing. It looks like a damned Bug. At least it's not quite as ugly as that thing we went to Minnesota to pick up... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just kidding...it definitely doesn't look like any of the other Anglia's around here.

Any shot's of the front end? Does it have a dropped axle setup or something else?

Cool little getup eitherway.

Since Hatch has been slack of late, the following is what I'd love to do to a Anglia......make a couple....imagine the rake of a highboy 34 3 window, just ad cold water http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers,

It has a drilled stock front axel that was moved forward about 4". seems to drive and handle well for what it is, but it still has stock Anglia brakes, that part could use to be better, but I'm not sure what to do? The coupe thing looks kind of cool as well. I think I'm going to paint mine hot pink, put the fenders back on, put in a ramjet 350, mustang II, sculptured leather interior, and maybe un-chop it 3" or so. Or maybe just leave it alone with some freshining up? Hum, decisions, decisions.

Say`s he extended the wheelbase 10 inches and thats a small English Ford rearend.

Hey Chris, that would be cool. I've been hearing all about it , but cannot seem to find one. How have you been? I started my own small rod shop/ antique parts sales, part time. I've been pretty busy. Later, Rusty.

That Pop was also faatured in a English magazine "Street Machine"
If I ever find the copy Ill forward it on to you.
The front brakes are not stock, they had cable brakes as standard, if I remember corectly, it has brakes from a Ford 105e Anglia (common swap over here) If you can find a 4 stud Siera the discs go straight on the hubs, check out Marts web site, he has a page on how to do this.
Again if I remeber right the engine is a 1600 Pinto, bored to 2000. The engine builders name was on the back.
Its good to see its still about got to see it once in the UK before it got shipped, please leave it as it is, its part of British hot rod history

Cheers Pete

Don't worry about the car, it is at a good home. thanks for the brake info, I'll check in to it. All I plan to do with it is clean it up, maybe fresh orange and yello paint, and roll with it. later.

The magazine PFF was talking about is Steet Machine July 1992.
I can make a copy of the article if you want me to.
I will check on those Jap brakes today.
