EBay posts
This post isn’t meant to flame anybody or start a shit storm. Its only meant to enlighten the few that seem to not be thinking before they post.
I’m not a big fan of a lot of rules and I sure as hell hate quoting them. But I felt something needed to be said.
To bad nobody seems willing to come out and say it. I’m not a HAMB cop.
I very much enjoy watching online actions as much as the next guy, but posting up of them here only serves to give free advertising to the seller.
Try looking at it this way.
What if you have every intension of bidding on something or you may even already be the high bidder.
Then somebody posts it here.
Suddenly possibly thousands of others now know about it. Then some of them spread it to other message boards.
I think you must get the point.
Just because its interesting or you cant afford it, doesn’t mean someone else here cant.
Im not a big fan of eBay and what its done to swap meets, but I must admit I have found a lot of stuff I would otherwise probably would have never found.
So I propose howabouts we all wait tell the actions are over before we post em up?
Thanks =V8=

Yeah, I buy a lot of my Parts there too.
But we dont need to drown the HAMB with links to them.
For the reasons 296 mentioned, and also because some people will try to spam their own stuff that they have for sale on Ebay.

please explain this 22 page monster? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=251648&highlight=lomas
or are there special rules for certain cars or people? if it's a "rule" i'm cool with it... as long as it applies to everyone.
(for the most part i agree with the sentiments though... jus pointing out some double standards here)

yep... so double standards it is then.
lemme get this straight...we can only post ebay links to "exceptionally nice" rides. who decides that exactly?
(btw... it is an incredibly cool car... how do you think i recalled it?)

Your Post History shows a lot of Closed and Deleted posts.
That probably means you haven't quite figured out whats Relevant to the HAMB and what is not.
Why dont you concentrate on that, instead of looking for faults in other peoples stuff?

"so... who/what/why are the actual exceptions to these rules?"
there's no harm or foul for asking a reasonable and relevant question on the planet i live on... it actually seems pretty logical to me in the context of this thread after all doesn't it? i expected a definitive answer...what you just posted was anything but that.
thanks for trying to bust my chops for f'ing asking. maybe you just have a problem with me and what i see as relevant in this world and how it relates to this hobby we both enjoy... i'm a pretty lighthearted guy and often the little devil on my shoulder pricks me in the neck... but am i the only one with a personality defect like that on the HAMB?... highly doubtful.
i wasn't trying to make this personal with you or anyone else... i guess that's just your bag
feel free to delete this post as well
edit (btw... here's the thread this ACTUALLY started on http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2872563#post2872563 )

Your definitive answer is drop it and move on.
We don't allow Ebay links in the classifieds as ours is free and theirs you pay.
As far as it being on the main HAMB site the owner did not post it nor his friends.
It came up as a topic of the quality of the car and really what this site is about and that is traditional hot rods.
There is a difference period.
Don't split hairs about double standards - we don't allow Ebay links in the classifieds.
It wasn't posted to sell, it was posted to discuss the car.
Read Metalshapes link - and I hope you realize what were trying to point out to you.
Move on.
Respectfully,
Cob
