I just wanted to take a second to thank BEATNIK for the most awesome race I ever ran. I mean it was so close...
SCALLOP53 pointed out that we were running similar times, at the HAMB drags, so I went and asked Gus to run one...
WHAT A RUSH! I love close racing...
Thanks man.

Here's the breakdown...

BEATNIK...............JUNKYARD DOG

0.7404.....REACTION.....0.6424
2.2103......60 FT.......2.3402
5.9639......33 FT.......6.1023
9.0687......1/8 MI......9.1955
78.01.......1/8 MPH.....79.71
11.8214.....1000 FT.....11.8861
88.68.......1000 MPH....90.74
14.1860.....1/4 MI......14.1821
93.96.......1/4 MPH.....97.48

One thing's for sure... I STILL NEED POSI.
If I could hook the thing up... boy oh boy!

... and I had to cross the finish line in 2nd gear. It was so close I knew I couldn't afford the time it would take to shift. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Does anyone have pix or video of this race?
I'd love to have one...

Thanks Joe, that was a real drag race, one of the highlights of the weekend. To me it was what the whole weekend was about, just having fun with friends.

When you two busted off the line, I was right in the middle of telling a huge story about something. I'm sure it was very important but I forget what it was.[right, very important] Anyway, I stopped in mid-sentence to consentrate on watching this close race. What a cliff-hanger!
Junkyard and I relived the race in the Ramada parking lot the next morning and he was still pumped!

I pulled up next to beatnik and started revving my engine.
When he finally turned around I gave a nod and it was on.

He kicked my ass but it was fun. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Congrats to both of you for running such awesome times on hot rods that were driven long distances to the event. It says alot for both of your building abilities. Looking forward to seeing next years "grudge" match. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Beatnik didn't mention it but he also went thru the traps in second gear. We had his slicks in the back of Big Olds with the intention of bringing them down but they weighted too much so they had to be left at home. Hopefully next year he can work it out with someone who's coming down in a truck or is hauling a trailer.

Dude! I'll still be pumped in January. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think my car just had more experience...
I was just along for the ride. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I honestly can't believe my engine held together at those revs. By rights, I should have shifted about 200 feet from the finish line.... but there was this little voice... it kinda sounded like you, ROCKY.
It said, "Ya lift ya lose."

...and thanks Denise.
I'm really happy with the way that car has run the last two years at the drags. Gus should be too.
On the way home I was thinking, somewhere around Iowa, how lucky I am to get to legaly drive a dragster on the street. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
