I was wondering if there is anyone that knows if I can put auto adjusters on my 49 ford truck brakes using the stock setup?

I gotta get some New shoes anyways so I thought I might look into putting the auto adjuster attachments on if its a straight installation

thanks

Just my personal opinion but, don't bother. Self adjusters don't work as well as advertised. 90% of the cars on the road with rear drum brakes need their brakes adjusted up. Adjust your brakes and adjust the parking brake cables. When the parking brake handle or brake pedal starts to travel farther than it once did, pull a drum to check and then adjust them back up. It's not that bad of a job and won't be needed that often for a non-daily driver.

I just put a set on my 57 wagon with the stock drums and new shoes... Honestly I don't think they worked as well as they have claimed to..

Either that or I just didn't install them right,,, but seemed like there was only one way to go.....

Anyway I still need to adjust the brakes manually,,, I'd say save ther 50 or 60 bucks and get some beer!!

why bother the self ajusters dont work on my new cars why deal with trying to make something work that gives you no pluses buy some beer or clean the garage instead
