Okay...so where do you look to find the specs on bone stock smogger cams...the ones that came factory installed in ordinary vehicles through the 70s and early 80s?
(Musclecar and performance grinds are easy to find...you can readily find 340 four barrel and 340 "six pack" cam specs...but what about stock 318 and 360 cam specs...using small block Mopars as a completely random example?)
Just wondering...

Great question, i pulled a couple Motor manuals and a Chilton, neither had cam specs. I have a complete 81 buick gm reference manual it has cam spects for all 81 Buick engines

1971 specs
The 360 two-barrel cam; 252/256 total duration, 0.410/0.412-inch gross lift: overlap was limited to 32 degrees
The performance- oriented 340 four-barrel cam was a bit wilder at 268/276 total duration, 0.429/0.444 gross lift, and 44-degree overlap.
The 318 two-barrel cam was super-mild at 240/248 total duration, 0.373/0.399 gross lift, and 26-degree overlap
the 74-76 383
