Howza Bruthas,
Are these two hood similar? Will they interchange? I think they will, but just need some confirmation from those who know more than me.

they are NOT the same. Yes they interchange. The difference is the location of the emblem, which means the stampings for the side curtains are not the same

I know the grille shell is thicker (front to rear) on '36, so does the front of the grille just stick out a little further or is the hood shorter?

Nope, the hood is the same length, the grill is thicker on a 36.
