Been lurking on and off for quite a while, so I figured it was about time I registered and posted an intro.
I grew up around hot rods and started driving my 40 Plymouth Coupe at age 16(I'm 32 now). The plymouth is flathead 6 powered w/speed equipment(fenton head, intake, headers). Very low, raked, big and little Firestones.
I have a channeled Deuce Roadster in bare metal that many HAMBER's may know. It is powered by a hot Studebaker V8 hooked to a T5 trans. The roadster gets a lot of highway miles on it and is a regular at Bonneville, El Mirage, Antique Nats, Paso Robles, VLV, Hot Reunion, etc...
We just finished a choppped and channeled Deuce Tudor for my wife. I is powered by a Stude V8 and 5 speed also. She also drives a 55 studebaker coupe mild custom with a stude V8 and T-10 4 speed.
Our other drivers include a 63 Stude Lark(slammed, 5 spokes, louvers), and a 64 El Camino(lowered, stock).
I resurrected and drove for a few years the former Eddie Dye/ Lively Set roadster. Sad to say that car is not in my hands now, but it has gone to a good home.
No pictures, I'm not very computer literate. Maybe another time.
Thats about it for me, FIRE AWAY!

.........welcome Tom. We had a chopped '55 Stude Coupe for 10 years and LOVED it. Had a 259 ci "Bear Cat" V-8 auto that ran great. Heavy car, lead foot and still managed 21-22 mpg on the hiway. Love to see some photos one of these days.........in the mean time, sounds like you may have a few stories to share??? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Yeah, we know you! Velkommen!

Thanks for the replies guys.
Klaz, that is my roadster, that pic is probably 3 years old? It's a little more detailed now. Thanks for posting the picture!
A/FX, My wife drove her Tudor to the salt this year it is baby blue, but may have looked light purple in a certain light?
Psycho, I will try to figure out the picture thing another time. When I have more time....
Thank's everybody for the welcome.

welcome Tom.. Thats gotta be my favorite roadster.. I saw your wifes sedan at the flats, its damn nice, she was there with another yellow one right.. You had the baby in tow as well.. very nice cars from the Immortals..
Hi ya Tom, this is Mike from Phoenix, the goon with the yellow F1 at VLV. I've talked with you several times at CHRR, Antique Nats and VLV, usually with big "Wronway" Jim or Howard from England on hand.
I saw you at Antique Nats this year, but I never managed to say hi (involved in too much foolishness with my fellow AZ miscreiants). I did see Diana and Willow run those two sedans, they did really well. Those cars were really strong and man, them two gals sure can drive!
Anyhow, glad to see you here, welcome to the HAMB.

Glad you now on board. Ignore the other newbies. They can get really annoying. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Welcome to the garage, man. I think most of us already know you, even though you just walked through the door. Kinda like seeing a long lost cousin for the first time, who you'd only previously seen in pictures in your grandma's photo album. Or something like that. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wow! feeling a little overwhelmed by all the responses. Thanks everyone for all the positive input and the pictures.
Donnie lownslow, I seem to have a knack for stepping in bullshit, but I usually come out smelling OK. I think I'll try to stay out of it completely here.
Broman, the wheels and tires and lack of windshield in your photo were my "Race Trim" that year at the Antique Nats. I've had the stude hupcaps and Firestones on the car since I got it on the road in 2001.
thirtytwo Eric, we ended up playing with the injected smallblock all week at Bonneville. Fabian was finally able to push the car to 177.4??mph on a 190.???mph record(in 3rd gear!). With weather delays and all the tuning problems with the smallblock we never got around to running the blown banger. We're planning on running El Mirage in Sept and possibly Oct with the small block and running the banger in November. You should try to come out!
Dutchman Maurice, you coming out in Oct? We should try to get together. Thanks for all the pics you posted.
Bullet, the roadster has a Spencer aluminum log manifold with 4 53/54 stude WW stromberg backdraft 2 barrel carburators. The setup works surprisingly well, especially with a motor that is breathing well and has a hot ignition.
Once again, thanks everybody for the warm welcome!

Welcome Tom. Always liked your roadsters. Very nice! I grew up in San Gabriel and have great childhood memories of that area. I'll be in Rosemead this weekend. Any hot rod gatherings in So Cal this weekend? Keith

the only other man brave enough to burn out big trenches in skippy's front lawn. (he always makes me show up the next day with fucking sod.... something about a deposit)
tell us more about the old man that always kicks your ass with the 6 cyl at the drags. I still think about that story and laugh alone at night. you crack me up.
I had family over from Holland and tom's roadster was parked next to my 34 at skip's house. I suggested I take a photo of all of them together next to the neat hotrods for their friends at home.
They all stood next to tom's car. That sucked.
love,

Welcome to the Hamb. I'm curious about the old Eddie Dye car. I heard you sold it to the guy with the original nose. Is that true? Is it being restored back to the way it was in the little books? It's one of the cars that hooked me on this shit. You have good taste in cars and will be an asset to the Hamb. dug

Coupe Head, what part of San Gabriel did you live in? I'm near Live Oak and Junipero Serra, just up the street from the Mission. Don't know of any hot rod outings this weekend, still trying to recover from Bonneville. I know there is a cruise night at Fuddruckers in Pasadena on Saturdays that is usually pretty crowded.
Gooch, it's funny you bring up the old man with the Jimmy 6! After 4 years of being taken out by him at the Antique Nats, all the planets aligned and I finally beat him! It was my finest moment watching him load his car onto his tow dolly as I pulled back into staging http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. That guy has the bracket racing game down! I guess that's what happens when you race the same car for over 40 years!
That's a funny story about your relatives and the picture. I don't think it's true though, your 3 window was bitchen.
Just Dug, I sold the Eddie Dye car to Don Orosco. He made a deal with the owner of the original nose and hood, and was able to borrow them and have them duplicated by his fabricator. The car is in limbo right now, I think he's waiting to finish the restoration when a roadster class is invited back to Pebble Beach. Must be nice to have unlimited funds. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Later guys,
Tom
