Mmmm Misfits great month this oct is!...

Ok so what it is that I plan to do with my '61 Comet:

Paint the whole shit house SUEDE black.

Paint the babymoon covered steelies red.

Put 3" mohair over the cracked dash.

351W/C4/8"/disk (maybe) swap.

Flame thrower kit.

Coffin shaped stainless consule for stereo, switch placement (done). Oh and I was thinkin cut outs with red acrylic covers with light behind it for when you open the doors... Please advise... kindly...

Repace antenna with something... better...

Stereo sorta low budget.

Interior since it is thrashed will be replaced with vinyl/tweed (dont hate me!I'm no street rodder! skirt and arm around chick part of bench in red vinyl) seating areas black tweed. On drivers seat (where back rests) the spade stitched in red V as well as the other deck of cards symbols stitched into the backs of the other 3 spots.

White pen scroll on the front and back.

Huge wing!

Stickers.

Neon lights.

B-12 transplant.

These last 4 for the ability to go real fast!!!

The name of my car... (she is) StrigaMort, this, translated from czech means, literally "dead witch". This car just may be the death of me and I mean that in oh so many terms. I LOVE this car and I will dump untold amounts of love, Bah I forgot the blood... there will never be enough blood... money, sweat , and of course tears into her. I agree with 60's style. I love early 60's cars. In my opinion, don't fuck that one up. It could be made to be a real screamer, an actual Hot Rod.

my wife loves those cars. gonna build her one one of these days. if you do that to that car she may hunt you down and bloody your nose for ya. those cars are so simple to build and look cool why the fuck would you waste one? if you want a dark look to it paint the body shiiinnnnyyy BLACK with a blood red roof with a little microflake thrown in it. paint the wheels black or the red of the roof and run a combination of trim rings cal custom mini trim rings and spider caps with some skinny whites wrapped around 'em. a red and black stock style interior and go. if you can't see what a beauty that would be then you just plain dumb. if you want i've got about 12 more variations on this theme that are easy and probably cheap to build. appliance white with a dark blue roof w' flake maybe?????...ken.....

You're being criticized because your mods are all bolt on junk with nothing really custom in mind. It's one thing to do it to a beater car to amuse your buddies, another to do it and think it's now a 'custom car.

Keep it simple.... You can paint it suede. Shave the handles and emblems... Lower it. Clean up it's appearance. You can't make a '60s car look like it's from 1958 and not make it look stupid.

This is my little brother's first car. He is 16. It's a '65 Falcon with a 250 6 cyl with a header, duals, 5 lug conversion, disc brakes, lowered, '65 TBird bucket seats... It's got a big stereo, and yes - flame throwers. But I don't think it's silly looking. To the casual observer, it looks stock. Look guys, you're right it is my 1st older car, I came here to get pointers and some technical help. I also came to make some friends. I dunno, doesn't seem to be going too well.

You guys know well that projects and ideas change as you go forward... I know this from the project Mustang that I had to sell. Would it be so hard to help a guy out without being an asshole?

If you need help, here is a way to clarify things in your mind.

FIRST ask yourself two questions:

1. Do I want this to be a custom?

2. Do I want this to be a Hot Rod?

Once you explore those two questions (and the gray area in between) then you will be well on your way to making decisions that you can stand behind proudly.

People are jumping on your plans because they have seen "wannabes" and "posers" before. In the old days they called them "squirrels" and they called the cars the squirrels drove, "Gook Wagons".

Its not cool to drive a gook wagon. Find out what the term gook wagon means. Get a good working knowlege of it. That will also help you make informed decisions.

Lots of people here like sedate and subtle rides. Here is where my personal opinions differ. I think Hot Rods and Kustoms should push the envelope of creativity and LOUDNESS. A sedate Hot Rod in my opinion is just that......sedate.....quiet.
Find pics of the HELL ROD. Take a look a BobBleed's stuff. Check out some early gassers. Try to capture a "feeling" or an "attitude".

Do NOT throw a bunch of shit on a car and think it makes it cool. Sometimes its what you leave out.....

And if your gonna go with flat black, prepare to get ridiculed as flat is O-U-T at this point......or so I'm told.

I don't listen though, I have Cragar ss's on my car. Big and littles to achieve a hot rod stance.

Its a fine line between dorkism and ruling. Sometimes it just comes down to what YOU know is right in your heart.
For instance. My choice of Cragar's came down to that. If somebody makes fun of it (which hasn't happened yet) It wouldn't faze me a bit. making a joke yes. In fact I do work for Kraft foods and I work at one of 2 plants in the world making parm cheese for Kraft. Not really sure how far you guys read into what I wrote in my bio. As far as my job goes we (my wife and I) make very good money for our area and decent money for anyplace in the U.S. Kraft is a good job (starts at 40k) and we both work there. Jeez what else must you know about us (me) before you see that I am not fucking around, that I am a real person and am willing to make my Comet a great car?
I think it is sad that I have to point out these things to get some silly cred here.
Perhaps my earlier posts were not to some people's liking because they were light hearted and I tryed to make some stupid jokes... whatever.

When I was looking for my first car it was either gonna be a 60-63 comet or a 60-63 Ranchero. I chose the Ranchero 'cause I figured I'd have less upholstery to worry about, only front seat ya know. And I couldn't pass on the fatory V8 4spd combo. If I had gotten a 60-61 comet I would've chopped it a couple inches and extended the fins, ditched the stock bumpers for something thinner like camaro, or similar. Painted it shiny metallic with flake on top (not sure on color), white interior with t-bird seats, slammed on stock chrome reverse wheels, with skinny whites, maybe some bellflowers.

Here's a shot of my Ranchero, someday it will get painted.
