Yeah, I couldn't pass this one up. I've been dying to build another lakes modified project but didn't really wanna spend any money on anything 'till my Poncho project is done.
However, FlyinJ1 made a deal I could not refuse. He sold me his little mystery cowl [nobody knows what it is], a complete T frame, {I know, I know] a "T" rear spring, a top half of a 33 chevy grille and shell and the cowl's dash panel for a VERY appealing price....
The plan is to use my 41 Pontiac engine, [239 flathead 6 with 90 hp] trans and rear axle. I can whip up a totally tubular intake with a few one barrels and a trick header. The engine is a modern design with insert bearings, steel crank and steel rods. Tranny is the stupid select-a-shift 3 speed with an open driveshaft to a modern-style 3rd member rear end....have both 3.90 and 3.23 gears for it.
I just drove the donor car on a 3500 mile trip with no problems. I can't wait to get crackin on this one. I even bought a 46 ford front axle and a pair of 40 front spindles and backing plates for it. I got a 49 caddy radiator waiting in the wings too...Here's the cowl....anybosy know what the hell it might be? A buddy thought it may be early, early Hudson...

The windshield posts are all floppy because they were originally bolted to a wooden inner structure that went to hell years ago. The wood went all the way across, under the top of the cowl and the dash was nailed to it too...

dash.....anybody recognise it?

Hahahaha..thanks Donsie. I'm gonna save that photo to show Mrs Rocky when she finally discovers another hunk-a-junk in the side yard. Maybe she won't notice it though. Once, I bougth a complete 29 ford 2 door body and frame and parked in under our oak tree in the side yard. She looked right at it everytime she parked in the driveway but didn't see it for 3 months! Rocky, I'm starting think we're Vulcan mind linked or something. Not only do we each have way too many projects but that cowl I just found(and posted elsewhere) is for MY lakes modified that will most likely use MY Poncho flathead in. But I plan to use my Oliver row tractor grill.

Cool score, great meeting ya this past weekend, can't wait til we can roll our ancient Pontiacs up to the line together one day.

Rocky,
Thanks for letting us know you're still alive.
The caretakers at the old folks home were worried when you escaped. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
They are going to double you dose of drugs to help you stop buying a piece of metal believing every tin can will be a car some day. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
