Sunday night was flathead night

Got the flathead home yesterday that I'm going to run in the roadster. After dinner I coudn't help myself and had to tear it down to see what ugly suprises awaited me inside.

Here it is before the teardown, 51 block with 3 speed....

Got the heads and inlet off, and all looks good, motor turns freely and apart from slight rust stains in the block and a bit of shit around the valves, it's really clean http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Even found a tag from an engine reconditioner from 1967 with bore and bearing sizes!..

I'll finish tearin it down this week and order some parts for the rebuild.

I don't believe I've ever seen an intake like that one. Anyone know anythings about it? Rare? good/no godd?

I like the water neck were the fuil pump stand should be.

It's an ozi thing, MILDREN. Did a lot of racing in the '50's and '60's supposidly.

Every time I think I've seen all the flathead intakes, another one comes along. That engine doesn't look like it was run much since the rebuild. Just parked and let sit.
