View Full Version : Late 50's Cast Iron Cadillac Six-pack Intake Manifold?

OK, you Caddy experts: A "car guy" I've know for a long time claims to have a cast-iron, factory, 6-carb intake manifold that came off of a mid-late 50's Cadillac engine. He is going to show it to me this coming week, he says. (He turned down my sight-unseen offer of $100, but didn't rule out selling it).

Two questions: Did Cadillac even make such an intake (having 6 Rochester 2-Jet carbs)? And, if so, would it fit a 331 Caddy engine? Anybody know about this? Is the guy full of sh_t? I hope he's not.

if he said "six pack" he probably meant 3 two barrels, which they did make.the price goes up with however many original pieces he has to go with it,like the carbs, aircleaner, linkage.i think the distributor was a special piece too, with the window on the cap relocated because of the rear carb.if it's just the manifold it's still worth twice or three times what you offered.you could probably fit it to a 331 with no problem, might have to do some port matching-george

Thanks for the info, Yorgatron. The guy thinks it was on a '59 Cadillac. If there's a chance it would fit my 331 Cad, then I'm definately going to keep after the guy to sell it to me. Since the only engines the guy (owner) builds are Chevys, he'll never use it. The multi-carb thing may not be as practical as a good 4-barrell, but you just can't beat the look! I got an eyeful of traditional rods at Bonneville last week, and multi-carb is where it's at these days --- plus, I've been picking up Rochester 2-Jets for a couple years now.
