View Full Version : Dumb body question...

When I bought my Impala wagon (at stock ride height), it leaned pretty bad to the driver's side... I figured maybe it was just sagging springs on that side or something...
Then I put Jamco's 3" drop springs on it, and wouldn't ya know it, still leans pretty bad to that side...
My dumb question is this (because I know NOTHING about body/frame): does this mean that the frame's bent?? Could it be anything else?? Is there anyhting I can do about it?? It really doesn't bother me all that much until I'm looking at it head on, then it's pretty noticeable...

Without seeing the car in person,I'd say that its leaning because of suspension problems.Could be shocks, control arm bushings, sway bar issues, etc.Get it on a somewhat level surface and measure the distance from the frame rails to the ground on both sides. If the distance is consistent from front to back, only shorter on the left side, then its suspension related.Frame isn't likely to be bent unless the car was involved in a major collision sometime in its past.

Springs would have been my first guess.
Long shot....Check the sizes of the wheels and tires, side to side.
They might have gotten mixed up.
Is it an Az. car ?

I just went out and measured it, it is the same front to back, but about 2" difference side-to-side... so then I'm thinking suspension now... any ideas what to go at first?? Body mount bushings?? Any suggestions on the best place to get this stuff from??
Thanks for the tips...

Is the lean the complete left side as though both tire's were flat? Or just one end? Did you have it re-alined after the lowering kit was installed? If so, those fellow's should/would have to of noticed Something amiss. Another early Wagonwoud be nice to compare to. Get it up on some jack stand's and spend some time inspecting: A-Arm's, mounting point's of the body, pan-hard bar, shock mounting point's. Look for bushing material falling out shifted to one side.
