Newbie from Los Angeles...

Well, Van Nuys technically.

I've got a '29 Roadster and a '65 Bel Air (my "practical" car). Since it looks like the '65 missed the cutoff point, I guess I'll just be talking about the roadster around here ;)

I bought it about two years ago, didn't really change much on it the first year because I was too busy enjoying it (plus I was pretty happy with most of the decisions the previous owner had made), but over the last year I've started tweaking more and more of it around. In the next month or so I'll be changing up the wheels/tires, then after that the next big thing will be trying to see if I can make some tweaks to the firewall/floor area to see if I can possibly eek out a tiny bit more leg room in there somehow. I'll make sure I search through the existing threads before I ask new questions though :D

I'm looking forward picking all of your brains around here, and hopefully I'll be able to help some folks along the way as well...

Wlcome!... I guess I am not sure what the official "cutoff line" is, but to me, if your '65 Bel Air does not have billitt parts, a one colour purple or bright blue (including painted bumbers) paint job and 22" rims, I think it would fit in here...early '60's cars and trucks are nice! Post some pics of your Bel Air...

Okay, cool, here are a couple of pics. The pic of the engine is from about a month ago, all cleaned up after rebuilding the heads. The changes I've made since the main picture are that I lifted up the front end a bit, put on some slightly bigger tires (still T/A Radials), and flipped them so the whites are out to give more of an old stock car look. It's still the original paint job, but the old straight six was replaced with a 350 V8, and the trans was switched over to a 4-speed Muncie with a Hurst shifter, with 3.91 gears in the back.

I really like the Cragar mags. Your car has the classic 60's look-I like the look! I plan on putting Cragar mags or Chrome wheels w/baby moons on my 64 Acadian (a Canadian Chevy 2) wagon in the future. I'm going to post a pic or two of my wagon soon- gotta get the wife to show me how with the digital camera (I'm 50 and old school) Maybe it's that I was a teenager in the late '60's-70's, but I like your Bel Air more than your roadster (not that your roadster is not a cool car...)
