My dad found a contact sheet last week while cleaning out the garage. He stumbled across what he remembers as a college buddy snapping a few pics for class(?). He gave the contact sheet to my brother who stopped by, and he just scanned them and e-mailed them to me. Dad thinks they are from 1968 or 1969 based on the car he was driving. It was his A fuel car called Gold Digger and was built by Woody Gilmore. Its first incarnation was as a top fueler...not too shabby for a college kid!

12. Last one. This one is most likely from '64.

I am smiling from ear to ear right now. I'm 32 and have NEVER seen these before. Way back when, I posted some action shots, but I'm totally stoked over this find. I think he needs to clean the garage more often!!!

I used to see your dad's posts at the "Header Flames" message board and his ads in their classifieds. We contacted him on at least one occasion regarding parts. I see he sells on eBay too.

WOW, what a treasure.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Ask your father to keep looking around the garage.

I know that guy! Unfortuneatly I wasn't around Fremont when those shots were taken. I'd been drafted and was busy protecting Fairbanks Alaska from the Vietnamese invasion. Thanks for the pictures Coby. Are they some taken by Gene Gastellum?

Derelict. I don't think Gene took them. But I will ask my dad when he gets back from vacation.

And SJFast, he barely knows how to use the computer, but can seem to find any website involving nitro. Now he's an ebay whore with some stuff, but save the hard core race stuff for swaps like the CHRR, March Meet, and sometimes Long Beach.

Very cool. That shot of the dirt bikes was probably taken at Fremont as well, they had a dirt oval with a motorcycle TT course looping inside it next to the drag strip. I used to race cars on that TT course in the early '70's.

Thanx! Neat stuff to see. Would you happen to find any pix of the one-legged welder that usta hang at Fremont and Half Moon Bay? Porky the Pirate?

Man I hope when I get old that dragsters and funny cars of my time will be as cool to look at. To much plastic and fiberglass though. The pictures are awesome.
