IF you have bought something from them in the past you will get one. If you have not ordered, well you should.

I got it also and let Ryan know by email. I haven't heard back but I sent it late last night so I didn't expect one yet.

I did not realize that was Tardel's place and I have bought from them.

Kinda odd... I didn't like getting it thinking someone was harvesting emails but knowing it's from Tardel I don't mind it one bit.

The hot rod company is Sidevalves, that is what I got. I didn't get anything from Tardel but I also have not bought anything from him either.

I got one. I assume after reading this....

This email was sent to you because you are a valued customer of The Hot Rod Company or because you asked to receive updates and promotions from us. We will never share your information. Read our privacy policy. (http://www.thehotrodcompany.com/shopnow/help.asp)

that I got it because I am an Alliance member, they are an Allliance vendor, and therefore have my details.

I also received this. I know who they are but have never dealt with them before. I would not mind the "cold call" if I knew Ryan had ok'd it. Maybe it would be cool for Alliance Members to receive notices from Alliance Vendors. I would not have a problem with that. Just ask me first is all I ask. :D Mike

The Hot Rod Company is a big name? Pffft....

They haven't been harvesting emails. They simply sent an email out to the Alliance list. I think next time I let someone do that, I'll make sure there is a special alliance offer involved.

I got the Hot Rod Co. email too and enjoyed reading it, however, unsolicited email = spam.

If a company wants to gather an email list of HAMBers, why can't they post a request for emails from the potential customer base, with a promise to keep the email addresses private. I must get 30-40 spams a day and don't need more.

i read all the posts to this thread pissin and moaning about sidevalve's email newsletter... if you KNEW the man, you'd know fuckin well he wouldnt spam you... he's just an alliance vendor tryin to help Ryan and the alliance out, and yes make a buck for himself. unless you're a commie pinko fag, you shouldnt have a problem with that.

besides, his latest email reminded me i need to order rajah ends and wire for the digger.

Ryan

As long as it is legit I don't mind it. I am trying to help build two '35 Fords and the parts offers work for me. As long as they are sanctioned by the HAMB with your knowledge I say keep it coming. Otherwise we'll find them and rip their nuts off. :D:D:D

Viva' la HAMB!

I just questioned if it was legit.. Ryan if you told him go ahead then its ok. it wouldnt hurt to tell the alliance members whats up is all. if you would like to give the ok to all the alliance vendors to email us with stuff then let er rip.

I totally agree with you, Dave.

A couple more emails per day isn't really gonna make any difference to me. Deleting them is really easy if I don't want 'em.

Any Alliance Vendor that wants to send me an email with a special offer has my personal permission to do so. As long as it's not for little pills or watches. ;)

FiddyFour
05-05-2008, 11:35 AM
i'm kinda dig the idea that alliance vendors have access to members email addys and have permission to send us direct mailings, weather they be postal mail or email... lets us know whats goin on, and hell for some it might remind them to buy from alliance vendors and that the alliance is more than just a tag and a title on the board. its also nice to be able to let the vendors have the option to tell us about special deals or new shit available to us they have to sell...

dont beat yourself up Ryan, you cant please everyone, and if a guy really thinks about it, we all KNOW that the vendors have access to the email list to keep track of the discounts available. keep lettin them send us emails is my vote

Ryan

The more I think about it though, the more I think I need to set it up as an "opt in or out" deal.

FiddyFour
05-05-2008, 11:51 AM
i'd say to avoid a ton of bullshit, leave it as "auto-opt-in" and then if they want off the direct marketing list, send a PM or email... list software MIGHT be able to handle something like that, making for less work for you?

ChevyGirlRox
05-05-2008, 01:05 PM
I got the email this morning as well. I didn't really think about though since I have ordered quite a bit of stuff from them lately.

And for any questioning the validity of the Hot Rod Company, just just jump over to the HAMB-o-dex and check them out. They are always near the top of the page and have literally hundreds of rave reviews...
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12

Good people for sure!

But anyways, I for one am totally ok with Alliance vendors contacting me with special deals, offers of just to remind me who they are and what they sell.
