I have three projects going and none finished, but just bought another sight unseen. Just bought a 51 Chevy, same car my father bought brand new in 51. Dad drove it until 1964, my sister then drove it through high school. Dad then sold it to my uncle, who drove it until he retired. Sold to family friend, whose son just call to tell me his dad died and he wanted to sell the car, did I know anyone who would give him $100 for it. Having no wife to say no, I could not pass up the bargain.

Another good buddy just called and told me the 413 Chysler i was rebuilding in my shop was mine for the 100 he owed me. so 51 chevy 413 4 sp it will fit i have a tourch and wilder. hehe

between then and now my first grandchild a little girl Kaylynn was born. How can one guy be so lucky.

My question what front suspension works well in 51 chevys. Going to be my first chop.????

Thanks guys annd gals

It has been so long since i have been under a 51 car. Have done a few 49 - 54 PU camero clips, could do that. To be honest i am not sure what the front suspension is like on a 51 car.

Have a late model chysler rear can have narrowed, but am stocked about this project.

Also a 67-81 camaro/Nova rear works very well, no modification except the perches

Just me, but with 3 projects going and NONE finished....................I believe I would leave Dad's old Chevrolet the way it was. Money cannot buy that kind of Karma or history.

I agree with Deuce on this one, especially since your dad bought it new.

I have to agree. Even if the old drivetrain is fragged just drop in a later I6 & 3spd and go. Something to drive while getting the other projects done.

Congratulations on the first grandaughter. I have 4, youngest 9 months, & 1 grandson. They are the most complete and utter joy of my life. Keep the car up, good first ride for Kaylynn. Never got to build a hot rod for any of my 3 kids, going to build one with the grandson, have 12 years until he turns 16.
