You might want to talk to AKATIREGUY. He has a 455 in his '55. He said he boght it that way. Still has the original front clip. It is really close to the firewall. He might be able to get you some pics though.
How is that hydormatic tranny? My hydromatic on my '56 (i lucked out in not getting a jet-a-way in mine) just took a huge dump.

Where are you. I know a guy in Seattle who is doing this
right now.
It would be nice if you filled in your user information.

You could do a 350 Olds instead if space is an issue...
Would cost the same to rebuild, all the same transmissions bolt up, and it's not as ugly as a big block.
You can get a cheap semi-crappy 307 out of an 80's olds.

i had a 455 in my 58 olds for about 10 yrs.your tranny wont bolt to it, 455 is notorious for runnin hot, and mine certainly did!!! after overheating for all those yrs after trying everything under the sun to cool it. i ripped it out a couple months ago...sorry guys im throwin a chevy in it this time.ill miss the 375 hp and holy shit torque, but at least ill be able to enjoy the shitbox for a change
