I was wondering what the advantages of putting a front spring on the back would be in comparison to using a rear spring? Thanks

On my brothers T coupe we used a front spring (46ish) in the rear. The main reason we used it was the width of the front spring fit inside the body where a stock rear spring would have caused us to cut the 1/4 panels out to make room for the spring. The stock spring is mounted close to the backing plates and we were able to move the mounting point in just enough to clear the body. I wish I had a pic http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
