From what I've heard, about half of those overpriced bastards are fakes so somebody is making them! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have one from the old chevron station my dad used to manage. its pretty old (50's?, 60's?), and its complete, someday ill get aroundto restoreing it. When they shut down the station, the pump magicly "jumped" into the bed of our truck http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif its a real mystery... no one can exlain it.... ill try to get some pics of it up here in the next few days, i need to go to my shed anyways.

Contact Rob at Athracite Garage. (my next door neighbor) He builds pumps on a regular basis and has a TON of old ones in stock, finished or unfinished. He usually has about 4 or 5 finished ones in the shop at any time. You can reach him at 570-797-3339.

If you don't need it to work, keep an eye out for diesel pumps behind construction co. yards and fleet yards. Once you take out the smelly guts two people can actually lift one. I'll post pictures of mine when I get home. I paid $75 and $85 about 8 years ago for my 50's era pumps, unrestored. About $350 each in parts plus paint.

.
My 50's Gulf night light... or the top part anyway. I paid 350 many years ago. The visible Frye type pumps from the 20's are out-o-site now.

My dad was going to make one years ago, but never got to it. He was going to use a glass carboy (water bottle) and paint the markings on it, 2 old Ford hubcaps to frame in the glass and sheet metal to make the round base. After that, all you need is the top light a few plaques like “contains lead” and a pump handle.

He was making this style.

Someone on here made a look-a-like out of the propane tank they used to heat their garage. It look very realistic once they topped it off with the aftermarket repo globe thingy.

Here's a picture of my gas pump that we moved when we added on to our house.
I have had it for years,,
The sides and globe are in the barn and when I finish the new shop it will re-installed out front.HRP

Here is a pic of an old Wayne farm pump. I resurected it as a Gulf pump, and installed a globe on top. The whole thing was done for less that $300.00, and painted with rattle cans. I gave this to my father for christmas 3 years ago. The pump, with globe, stands just under 6 foot tall. This thing turned out far better than I ever expected. -Joe

I just got a Mobil pump (1954 Tokheim) from a guy in Michigan. Not all beat to shit. Missing the back "door" to the cabinet and didn't come with a globe. Got for the price of hauling it away. Not it's taking up floor space in my shop instead of this.
My plan is to lightly restore it (clean it up, new numbers on the face, but otherwise just clean everything and leave the Mobil plaque and Lead signs with a little patina on the edges). Then install a garden hose real inside it, run black garden hose, and cut down and thread the nozzle to accept a hose sprayer, put it outside the shop and then it'll be functional for washing the car. Could run an air line in it, too, and keep it in the shop.

When I had built my garage I put the word out for an old pump. Friend ended up having one and I swapped him for a couple of old mag wheels. It was pretty rough, not body just the frame. Had all the levers etc, but was all siezed up. But the main thing it had the glass fuel bowl.
My intention was never to do an Australian brand fuel pump. It had to have a Gilmore globe. So when I got a repro globe. I built my pump. Made a more stylish body than what the original was like. Discarded the actual pump and made mounts inside to attach and allow the levers ect to still move as standard. Then designed a paint scheme and just went for it. I am real pleased how it turned out. Pic of mine.
Just picked it up recently.
It's a Gilbarco. Not sure of the year.
It pumped fuel for years at my old man's cement company.

You can make your own many ways. Just look around at things that might work. I make a repo and sell the shit out of them. Damn near a full time job if i let it. You don't want to have molds and core boxes made like i did. I could have built a nice car for the money i spent, around 8 grand. If you look back a few months in the search for "eye candy" i posted a bunch of pics. http://machlink.com/~zmanh2o/vp101.JPG

This is the one I rescued from my cousin's farm. It's a late 40's Bennett 646B. It stands almost 6 feet tall without the globe. I'm not sure if I'll restore it or sell it (out of work and out of money). http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I just got these a few weeks ago. F*&^ING HEAVY! I have no clue what to do with them yet. Resto or leave as is or get rid of them. They're mid '50s Gilbracos with everything still in them.

no shit...at 800 lbs between them, you'd need to mortage the farm to get them. Need a road to New Zealand, then I could drive 'em over. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No I don't Bootie, but if you wish i can take some more detailed shots for you and maybe take some dimensions. Perhaps even a template of the shape of the body. Was a bit of work in the body. Actually I think I have some in progress photos somewhere. I'll dig them out when i get the chance! Geoff aka Whodaky
