World Class boxes have taper roller bearings which is shimmed to the correct clearance. If you change the main case you need to re-shim. Much easier to just change the rear case over.
Did you notice yet that your speedo cable conncetion at the case will not be at the same place as the drive gear??
Another oddity seems to be that Camaro/Firebird boxes has the vent in the rear case whereas the S-10 kind have the vent in the main case. The hot rod combo of using camaro front/ S-10 rear will have no vent. You have to put it somewhere.

You can swap tailshaft & topcover from S10 onto Camaro T5.
Check your speedo gear location - may/may not be different - they can be modified - have to search for it online
Vents can be added to topcover if not where you need them.

big problem over here is lack of S10's some of our local cars have the w/c t5 box but all seem to have the shifter linkage at back - so obviously i need a s10 tailshaft - (now excuse my ignorance but were they a w/c box or not ??? cheers

S-10 boxes are not W/C.
A guy here says he was able to cut the shifter housing off a Camaro boxand reweld it on to the tail housing in the S-10 position.
The gearbox is now in a running car so I suppose it works.
Some serious fixture building must have been involved.

Not to hijack your post but I have a question. Am I going to have a problem with the shifter location in a bigger car, say a 40 dodge tudor sedan? Are all camaro/firebird T-5's world class boxes? Thanks, later plmczy

Do a search for "T5 Info" - world class is model & year specific.
Bootie - you'll need the top cover in addition to the tailhousing.
I have also seen the tailhousings modified to put the shifter where folks want, but it's a lot of work...

Have you considered just using a relocation kit on your existing trans like this

Is that homemade or can you buy it somewhere?

Looks good - also looks like you could do the same thing with an extra shifter...(in fact, that rear portion looks like an aftermarket shifter to me)

where can you buy the relocation kit?
That one is from a guy in Texas who built a few for a group of Cobra replica builders. I've got his email but it looks pretty easy to build. Yes it is made with an aftermarket short throw shifter and a little extra metal. Let me know if you want to get a hold of him. He gets $150 for it

Since this post has already been hikacked I figured I'd do it too. Do all T5's have removeable bellhousings? Someone told me the 4 cyl T5's do not. Is he an idiot or a genious http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif?
