just talked to him tonight, and didnt think to ask if he has gotten around to mounting the tank... he did pick one up, and I welded up some mounting brackets for him, so if he has had time to plug in the drill, it should be on the truck....
its hard for him... he has to stand there and crack the whip over his two kids to keep them scribblen those drawrings for him to sell! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Old Ford trucks keep lookin' better and better to me... and you guys in Arizona got it nailed...
Sam.
Damn you Kustombuilder....
I'll try and get a pic with the tank in there. It looks pretty cool. Drove the piss out of it Saturday night and it didn't overheat a bit. And to think people scoffed at my tank-air-vortex theory! Sounds good anyway....Just got a new digicamera and now the pics are not transferring, need to break out the intructions?
Volare cut WAY up into frame and boxed up above AND below and the rear suspension is ElPolacko's baby, a triangulated 4 link and adjustable transverse spring. Works great!
Oh yeah, I'm treating the metal with GIBBS brand oil. It'll stay that way 'til after the GG show in Scottsdale come November, then it gets paint. I still have a front fender and the hood to strip and 10,000 nooks and crannies.

This must be the COOLEST TRUCK ON THE HAMB!! I was watching this post this morning before I went to work at 6 and that first 'bare metal pic' pretty much woke me up!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
I've been studying that '60(?) Mooneyes truck a lot, but I can't get used to the fenderlines on that thing. On this truck they look great!! This is a '65, right?
I can't stop lookin' at this car!
Thanks Fellers.
F.D. it's a '64 but one is pretty much like the next with minor differences. Although '65-6 looks the same, the floor is entirely different for some reason.
I used HomeDepot's Jasco Heavy Duty brush on stuff, lots of razor blades and scrapers and then hit the surface with my orbital sander 60 grit. And liberal use of that Gibbs schtuff.
If I could figure out the pic problem I would post one of the front. Put your thumb between the center of the headlight bezels and think moon tank, that's pretty much it.
Kodak Digicam support? What support?! Oh well.

Is the metal treatment you're using going to give you problems when you go to paint it (fish eye, adhesion...)?
I love the look of that truck - looks awlsome!!!
It's my understanding that Gibbs brand or somebody else maybe did tests and found that there are no problems with adhesion. It's not silicone based. Roadsters.com's Dave Mann told me all about it. Cole Foster uses the stuff too, it's probably good stuff.

Izzat an Eelco tank?
Looks bitchen!
I like the whole look and feel to the truck... I just wish I had the balls to build something that bitchen... I dream shit up... but don't have the balls to build it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Maybe I will go hawg wild with my '57 Effie... hmmmmmm
I still don't think it'll come out near as cool as yours...
Sam.
I'm not sure if it is an Eelco tank. That is what I first thought, but Chris doesn't seem to think so. I don't care, it fits and I'm done torturing myself about a genuine MOON tank.
Give me a break SAM-YAM, I don't think anyone could or would say ANYTHING you've built lacks cajones. Come on Soldier!!

Nope... I ain't got the balls...
I've done some soul searching... and I think I'm always making compromizes... I really do envy a lot of the cars that are too-low... too chopped... too this or too that.
Just once, just once I'd like to tell aesthetics to fuck-off and build something that blows people's minds.
I dreamed up a '32 sedan once that borrowed cues from the Orange Crate... and a Mustang (yea, I go there sometimes) that would make the guys at Rad Rides by Troy green with envy. A '55 Chevy gasser... blah, blah, blah.
When I set out to build my Model A, I wanted to build it with a straight axle... and tires sticking out the rear fenders... headers that came out the side... but I buckled under the hand of conformity.
Even the BFD... I look at it now and want to shorten it up about six inches and raise the front up four! Hmmmm, maybe I'll do that! Yea!
Raise the digger and lower the tow truck!
Sam.
