Here is close-up of a homemade propane-powered jet car thingie. It wasn't working when I saw it, sadly enough. Apparently a fuel line was clogged or something. Oh well.

I've seen pics of that before, its a lockwood-hiller (if I remember right) style pulsejet engine, I researched those alot and always wanted to build one, no moving parts on that engine at all, nada. Anyone here ever build one?

I scored a cummins t46 BOH turbocharger, that I wanna make a jet engine out of... Its too damn big, nothing I own has enough exhaust pressure to spool it up...

BOH= BIG OL HONKIN...

When I was 8 (1979--might have been the year before, though), the first drag race I went to had the Green Mamba jet car and a couple others. In the pits I remember seeing some guys running around doing donuts on a jet go-cart.

My dad wouldn't build me one, dammit.

It's still one of the coolest things I ever saw.

Burndup:check this out. These guys remove the exhaust snail, and add a pulley and some bearings.
Since they only run at about 1/2 the speed of a regular turbo,
a BOH turbo will work fine on a much smaller motor. It would look great on a Jap bike. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.gatorsuperchargers.net/ (http://www.gatorsuperchargers.net/photos/photos.htm)

Unk, thanks, thats nuts! If I run it as a cetrifugal blower, do I still need to run an oil line to it?

Thanks,
J

Nitrogen, oxygen, and what else? How does it work?

You do not need an oil line to do what these guys do. They install pillow block bearings on the intake side of the turbo and then belt drive them.
If you go to the link mentioned above, you can see what they look like.

After studying their site,I'm still not sure. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If the stock bushing/bearing between the snails was retained,
it would need some sort of lubrication, especially at those speeds.

Maybe they drill it out after the pillow blocks are located.
