Hello everyone. I have been a lurker for some time and have picked up many helpful ideas. I am doing up a '37 Cabriolet with a '57 Caddy, bored, stroked, 3-2s, Isky roller, T-5(half camaro-half S-10) with a Mallory Magspark. My question is...The Magspark coil with the two outputs to the distributor has long gone. The points are connected together at one post. The other has been eliminated.Using a conventional coil. I am getting spark at only one set of points. If I connect only one, either one, it gets spark but not both. What's up? I have set the gaps as close as I can. Do I need to set dwell? Thanks, Skip

Hello and welcome! Is the magspark a dual point system? If so, the points have to "overlap". That is they do not open together,at the same time. There is a 'make' and "break' set. one closes, then before it opens, the other one is still closed. This extends the "dwell' time, that the coil can charge. When the 'break set opens, the other is open as well, making the spark. Followed closely by the "make " set closing again, completing the cycle. ,glenn

Glen,
This is a Magspark dual point dist. with both sets and the built-in overlap. Just can't get both sets of points to spark. The points are joined together where the were fed with two seperate feeds from the orig. coil. Question is should they both "spark"?

Skip, just the 'break set would be the one that"sparks". just after the spark, the make set will just be closing. That is if it is a true dual point system. Or is it a dual point, dual coil, and 4 lobe cam? Then it would be a diffrent animal altogether. I am not familiar with the Magspark dizzy.I hope I can help. Glenn
Just a funny notice: "Magspark" is Swedish and translated into Enlish it means "a kick in the stomach"!
