Thanks, man. I agree with ya Chrome-just a matter of time and money....I bought it for $3000 and so far, spent about$1000(not all at once, mind you). Most of that was replacing gaskets and putting in an electronic ignition. With a wife and two kids, I gotta take it low dollar.

I've lowered it on photoshop at work so many times, it makes me sick....soon...very soon...
Speaking of which-I recieved a quote today on 3in drop springs from Coil Springs Specialist. It was $60 cheaper than Classic Industries.
Question is: is 3in too low?
I love the drop in Road Devil's pic, but that'd have to be bagged...

i hear ya on that, man. money is always an issue. 3 inches would probably be ok just as long as you don't have things like headers draggin. with a 6, i bet you'll be fine. i laid down the bigger bucks for full length hooker headers for the 283 in my 65 and they scrape on EVERYTHING with 2 coils cut, just about 3" drop up front. check this, comes from a guy on the HAMB, S-10 springs, the older boxy style ones, up front are good for a 2" drop. got a pair myself for the 50 pontiac i'm building. not supposed to screw the ride up either, hell, i think he did this on a 62 to boot. really cheeeeeeeeap. 60s GM's could use some stiffening though! kinda glad i cut coils on mine!

ive never (never say never, actually i did once, but it was for a BMW)bought pre-dropped springs, you can always either cut them or swap the ones that cant be cut(pig tailed coils) out for springs with less tension.
super cheap way to go! lowering you impala a couple or few inches would be the hot ticket and wouldnt cost you more than a weekend of junkyard crawling & swapping http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yeah-the ride is "floaty" at best.My grandad was a huge believer in traction (how the hell else do you get the ponies to the floor?)When it comes time to spend money, I plan on dumping it into the suspension ala' poly bushings, sway bars, trailing arms, springs, shocks, and eventually wider tires. Austin has some sweet ass hillside curves out by Lakeway and I've always loved taking tight curves hard and fast http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
