I have to to share this with you all as you all gave me so much support when I have been trying to sell Gordy's 53.

We sold Gordy's 53 the other day,
We are happy and sad, how can it be that way?
The many hours we spent building that car,
Were some of the best hours I have lived by far.
Gordy was a special guy don't ya know,
He always knew what direction he would go.
He didn't always know how he would get there,
But with a goal in mind he really didn't care.
From Manti Utah he hauled in this hunk,
If he hadn't been a reformed alcoholic we'd a swore he was drunk.
He had a goal from the very start,
To build a custom he could feel in his heart.
For six years we cut the bad metal away,
And replaced it with what you see today.
Many hours of work and laughs took place,
And I can still see the determination in his face.
He built a shop just to build this 53,
Which proved his dedication to me.
He bought tools that he would need to get the job done,
And he learned to use them as well as anyone.
I've been building cars all of my life and I like to teach,
And I was amazed at the level of skill Gordy attained and how fast it was reached.
I would show him once and tell him you take it from here,
Then I'd sit and watch and have a cold beer.
When he took it out for it's very first ride,
The smile on his face seemed a mile wide.
All the hard work was paying off for him that day,
And I had a lump in my throat I must say.
Gordy passed away before he could get the 53 done,
But the good times we had can't be matched by anyone.
There will be a tear in my eye when it goes down the road,
But my heart will be free from a very heavy load.
A nice young man from Greeley Co bought Gordy's 53,
And a promise to finish it as Gordy wanted it was given to me.
I hope he and his boys get as much enjoyment as Gordy, Cecil and me,
And the finished product I'll be waiting anxiously to see.
It's time to say goodbye to Gordy and his 53.
Give me a thumbs up ol buddy as you look down on me.
