My brother and I went out to buy two Mustangs in a guys field, they were suppsoed to be 65's I wrote the VINs and codes off both of them.I noticed right away the both had generators,We bought the cars not running as is for a excellent price.I came home ran the numbers on one to find and amazing discovery..1964 1/2 Pace car 260 2V V8 c-4 indy pace car white, white interior with blue appointments, built in Dearborn,MI scheduled build date April 16,1964!! one of only 185 Pace Cars built by Ford!!20 are known and accounted for this makes 21!!!I nearly passed out with excitement!!!! Oh and the other was a good score to a 64 1/2 289 4V car factory 4 speed!!
The pace car is complete,it has a smashed drivers fender and some door rust the car is painted red with red interior, you can see the white underneath it! the 260 is still in the car and unmolested!!..this is an easy resto..the only difficult part will be the Indy 500 pace car lettering,We will need a pro for that....We just finished up the 65 A Code 4 speed GT car..I have been working on this car night and day feverishly..the car is amazing...It seems that I have a knack for the Mustang resto gig..so I'm sticking with it..A 64 1/2 Mustang was my first car and I have owned several since then. They are easy to work on and parts are readily available, not to mention the values just keep going up everyday.....No more 4 doors and oddball shit ...Its all 64 12-66 Mustangs for us now...

Just f'in with ya Marcus... Good score!

I'm not really into mustangs. Too many around. But I can understand your enthusiasm for finding them. It's cool buying a car and finding out it's a much more valuable rig than what you paid. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I like K&R's idea of a drag car, it would be SICK!!!

Nice score! I restored several 65-66 Mustang converts about 25 yrs ago, the guy bought a nice maroon 64 1/2 cpe. I still have a few 64 1/2 specific parts around here somewhere.

The fastbacks are the only Mustangs that turn my crank, and I think the only ones doing much climbing in price too. It seems like the 2 barrel garden variety coupes and convetables aren't worth much more than they were several years ago. But a pace car!!The Mustang gods were smiling on you that day my friend.

That's cool.

Do you think it is worth more to turn it the way it is or to restore it and then sell it?

I think if a guy could buy EVERY early Mustang he could find for under $3000 he would be a RICH man in 10 or 20 years... but where you gonna put 'em all?

Glad to hear the Mustang restoration thing is working for you.
Sam.

My brother and I were just crunching numbers and going over resources..We paid $1000 for the car the way you see it..So... unless someone was willing to pay $12K-15K as is which I think would be worth it since they are about as rare if not more so than a Shelby. We figure realistically,to do this car correct and I mean CORRRRECT..NOS Parts Concourse etc etc in which we would need some help for sure we come up at $12K-15K total invested..Value of car varies obviously..apprasied show cond on the last one I found for sale was at $49,000 - $55,000 but real street value makes it around $30,000 to $35,000...SO..heres where were at..Find a serious buyer to cough up the cash to buy it as is or go full throttle on this thing and do it up..We would have to get this thing done on IOU's to build to be paid when car sells.I am fully willing to sell The Jimmillac to pay for the project if need be.I can always build another Cad mill but not another Pace Car!Honestly I would like to be able to have the chance to build it and get some exposure on the restoration in Mustang Monthly magazine and maybe some free advertising for Mustang Magic here in Fremont who I have been dealing with since 1988.this is an awesome oppurtunity and a dream come true to say the least!!

sell the jimmillac, which has style, to fund being a mustang restorer?you ARE as insane as some of us have thought! are you doing it for the MONEY or for the LOVE? flip that stang and be done with it! if that car is what you say it is, i wouldn't be talking about it here until it was under my locked posession! if you can't afford to restore it, pass it on to the goldchainer who can, don't kill yourself just because its "rare", your jimmillac is one of none. honestly i think you would profit more just flipping it like it is. if it's as desireable as a shelby, you got an easy ten grand profit right now. or put a year of work into it, a lot of parts etc, and make 15 grand profit after you pay for the parts?

1. Never show your HAND on the net (you should know that by now...), edit can(will) be your friend.

2. decide what you want to do carwise and stick with it. You've been given a opportunity, do it once, do it right.

3. again, choose, rodder or restorer......no half measures.

Wishing you well, nice find.

Mate, all is cool, I'm not sledging you or your prefferences, or the ability to do whatever, just suggesting that on this occasion you've got an opportunity, something which would be really rewarding if given genuine commitment.
For myself, time and time again I need to remind myself on my goal to have a 33/4 coupe, spend my time & money wisely, as I know that if I continue to get distracted on 'too many projects' my dream won't happen. Hence I need to stay focused on my goal.

Again, no sledge or petty inferred crap intended.

2. Never let David Okoro from Zimbabwe wire you any money...

3. Never let anyone mail you a check for 1.5x what your selling price of your car is.

4. But DO buy a supposedly rarer than rare Mustang from Marcus.

Since your lack of Ford intelligence is apparent...I will school ya ... You might be able to forge a door tag(Unlikely)but to forge the same matching numbers on the body?!! Plus the fact that all Pace cars have "Pace Car" written with a grease pencil of some kind underneath the painted radiator support from the Dearborn plant in which all cars were built.?! Nice try...
You really should know your facts about these cars before you talk all that shit....And oh yeah..I'm not trying to sell it either..and yeah I'm sure any Mustang "You" owned was a piece of shit,no arguments there...anything else you want to discuss? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Then why did you ask? And secondly, either a gay faggot in one who parades down the street in a flamboyant and chearful kind of way, or is double negative. He would then be straight if taking "gay" as meaning non hetero-sexual. Along the lines of an oxymoron so to speak. Sort of like "Smart Marcus." why do I even responding to this insignifa-CUNT attempt at acceptance? I apologize for the waste on Ryan's band width...I wonder if that "mighty fine, super rare, 64-1/16, someone put hounds tooth interior in me, wears my convertible top, this one time at band camp p.o.s." will smoke the shit out of every car on the road in about a day or two. Looks like it to me. And it looks good on you... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I say restore it and sell it for at least a third of what you think it's worth. I'm sorry I read this post and I have no intention of reviewing any responses. Do what you want Marcus. I don't care. No one else cares. You shouldn't care either. And if you don't really care, then why do you come here looking for acknowledgement on your purchases and future sells. (I know "acknowledgment" was more than two syllabyls long so I don't expect you to understand the words' meaning.) You should swap for a car with cop shocks, a cop motor, cop brakes, a tank full of gas and half a pack of cigarettes. Go restore your ultra rare pace car. I am sure there are many message boards pertaining to mustang restorations. Have fun. Hopefully no one will steal your bitchin' pace car.
You come here looking for a battle of wit, only you are un-armed.

The only problem is, my smug friend..Is that I do however possess an Intelligence Quotient of 142 as tested by Mensa. So, please explain to me once again about your incorrect identification of oxymorons and double negatives.Insignifa-CUNTS,because it sounds like your panties are all in a wad over there and in dire need of some more Vagisil.Hmm,cheerful is mispelled, as is syllable,as is acknowledgement, unarmed is not hyphenated, and Gay faggot in a sentence would neither be a double negative or an oxymoron. The meaning of Gay would be one who is joyful and happy, cheerful and adjective, Faggot an offensive term to describe a person who is homo-sexual,here is where the hyphen would be used,is a noun.Grammatically correct sir.You were saying something about wits I believe?
