A few months ago I found a 28 or 29 A coupe for sale via the internet. Although the car was in Minnesota I started talking to the guy and we struck up a deal because the car looked real good in the pics. Tuesday we loaded up in my dad's 96 F150 with the 16 ft trailer and headed up the road. From Winchester KY we went through Louisville KY, Indy, Bloomington IL, Madison WI, Eau Claire WI, ST Paul MN, and finally, 927 miles later, through Hinckley MN. We parked the truck and greeted the guy's uncle that lived on the property. He lead us into the shed and there was my Model A, suffice it to say it was a little rougher than advertised. Luckily there was plenty other stuff sitting around (I already knew there were a bunch more cars there, just did not know exactly what) and I figured since I drove that far why go home empty handed. Out in the yard I spotted this 46 Coupe.

I figured it would do. We started the negotiations and before long struck up a deal we could both live with. Next we hooked it up to the loader and began the task of loading it up. Here I am taking my first cruise http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Finally we were loaded and ready to head for home. We pulled into the driveway at home on Thursday morning at about 6:45 am after 36 hours, 34 of which were spent driving. We had a good trip with no mechanical problems, flat tires(except the one on the coupe http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) or tickets. I'm sure there is a lot of pretty country up that way but you can't see much of it from the interstate. We did learn that the state tree of Illinois is the grain bin. From the kentucky/Indiana border, all the way to Minnesota about all we saw was corn and silos!
The car needs a few things like a passenger side front fender, drivers side rear fender(could be savable), front floor pans, rockers, and trunk patch panels but over all it is pretty solid. It still has the flathead in it although it is stuck. I already have a good flatty cornered, it was rebuilt a few years ago and not ran much, but it is still free. We turned it over yesterday and it was real smooth.
The guys in MN have some more stuff too. He had a 50 pickup, another 48-50 pu rough sheetmetal but the flatty was running last year, it's also a 4 speed, a few 54 pu's, a 41 coupe, 41 convert, both being worked on presently, some chevy pickups from the 30's, and these 41 tudors among other things.

Anyways, I'm open to suggestions as to what to do with this thing, I'm thinking warmed up flatty, disc brakes up front with a dropped spring, fresh shoes etc out back and drive it in the patina until I can afford some paint. Photochoppers?
