HI everyone...its awesome to be a part of the HAMB, i have a 1940 chevy 1 1/2 Ton Flat bed dully.. i want to take the truck and convert it to a 1/2 ton truck for a rod instead of Ranch truck... can anyone help me figure out what to do as far as the transformation... cut the 1 1/2 ton down... or go to 1/2 ton frame... and my other question would be is to where to find a 40's frame that would help my project out... Thanx

Welcome to the H.A.M.B.
How about sitting it on a S-10 frame?

What's the situation with a kit that may fit for a 40 on an s10 frame. I was reading up on it and it looked as if the kits were only for 41 and later trucks and its a forty. Is the difference between a 40 and 41 significant to not be able to use the 41 kit and drop the cab on the frame. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Hi, there is a guy in Minnesota that does the kits starting at 41 but is pretty smart and may be able to help, his site is :
http://www.e-zchassisswaps.com/index.htm, I have been to his shop and though nothing fancy he's pretty sharp. Tell him Mike Otto And Bill Nepper from Glenwood sent you, He sold a kit for 48-53 to my friend Mike. Using the s-10 is a great start since parts are easy to find and cheap and it rides and handles decent. They track narrow enough to keep the wheels in the fenders. Good luck.
