I was at work this morning when I get a call from my brother in England, he tell's me that my Dad's been diagnosed with Lung Cancer.

Aparrently the wonderful UK health service (PUN INTENDED) have spent the last 6 or so weeks treating him for a chest infection....

Anyway, good new's is that it's a VERY small tumor, and he starts radiotherapy treatment in the next 10 days or so.

If your that way inclined, please offer up a few word's to the big guy upstair's, it all help's.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear the news. Try and make sure that he focuses on the positive. Everyone will want to share their "horror stories" about their experiences. They all mean well but it gets old.

When I was 23 I lived in a po-dunk, no stoplight havin' town in the wilds of Maine. I was short of breath, had severe edema in the belly and ankles, and instead of pink, I was purple and ashen grey. My mom who is a retired RN took me to see the town quack and the doc said I had cellulitis...

My mom didn't believe it and took me to a doctor in Auburn and he literally took one look at me and arranged a cat scan that day. Open heart surgery repaired the calcified pericardium I had. My whole renal system was shutting down and I was dying.

She was a government doctor supplied to po-dunk towns...

I know where your comin from. Dad was told to go home and gargle with salt water by the specialists. It took a nurse practioner in his small town Drs. office to suspect cancer and order the necessary tests and evetually treatment but they didnt get in any hurry. All the hoopla about early detection must be because they know its gonna be at least 6 months before they start doin anything! They eventually took part of his lung and did radiation. So far so good.
Our thoughts are with you and yours in an extra special way. dusty

my dad had an "upset stomach" for months before it was determined he had non-hodgkins lymphoma,,,2 bone marrow transplants in two years before he gave up on me from the lymphoma and the resulting luekemia and other complications,,,

as long as your dad STAYS STRONG i think he'll continue to improve,,, the initial treatments aren't sooo bad if they can get rid of the cancer,,,,

i hope and pray that they do,,,

love,,,
