On a serious note, we ARE going to be soliciting REAL designs for the next E&J CAR Headlight design soon. If you specialize in art-deco, PM me, you could be a $RULER...

Those lights in SoWhat's post are very close to what I was going to suggest, but stretch them out, more cylindrical. That way you can cater to the later 30's crowd as well. Signal light on top and possibly a half round glass lens as well, sort of like a 36 Ford??

Damn I wish I could draw......

Bitchen' Clark, those things ooze Art Deco... I think the steps are a must...

I have a set of e&j's.
They have been converted to 12 v. but alas I would like a cleaner conversion that uses the ol purple lens, at least a more nostalgic look.

PM me with any suggestions

That car looks killer, can you show me a full view pic?

We make Sealed Beam conversion kits, but the degraded lead appearance is pretty hard to reproduce...

Jobcorp....I've thought about the sealed beams don't have the look the originals do. The solution? Try tinting the lens of the sealed beam. They used to make a spray tint for windows that would work perfect for this. If you can't find that try some laquer with a dark purple tint. Good original lenses aren't purple. They are clear. They discolor with age (I'm guessing)

Framedragger..do you have the kits now?

How about just makin an optional top for the E&Js ? It would save on tooling. Make just the top half with some art deco apeal to it. It would be cool to add a fin to the top of it like a couple of the belly tank cars had and add a couple of art deco lines to that. Sorry I can't draw

Clark, I have a set in stock right now...

I thought about purple paint "tint", but haven't actually tried it... I should experiment...

Have been contemplating doing something similar to my dodgy sketch below.....basically laminating 5 profiles of 4mm alloy plate together, and affixing to the top of my lights......simple, discrete (ie not overpowering), flowing and complimenting the headlights curves.....

Cheers,

Drewfus. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Slazzen - Honestly, If I end up using stuff from here for a product design, T-shirts are not really appropriate compensation IMHO... But that's just me...
