ok over the past few days ive been kicking around the idea of starting another project...im not sure why seeing as i have a few going already....but i realized i have a few peices i could throw together along with finding a few things and build something along the lines of a mid 30's "gow job" "hop up" "soup job" whatever you wana call it...anyways the question i have is about brakes...i have a complete set of perfect 36 ford brakes off a museum car that was street rodded and i would like to use them...but not 16 inch wide 5 wheels...is there any way i can find a 17 18 or 19 inch wheel that i could put wide 5 centers in? or can i switch to older drums with the regular bolt pattern and just run stock spoked wheels...its up in the air really...but i would like the whole thing to be period correct mid 30's...althought most of it would be scratch built it will still be as it would have been...oh and either and A or B motor or one of the early flathead v8's...also will 36 brakes bolt onto a 34 rear end?

i know this is alot of stuff in one post...but its just an idea i came up with...any opinions are welcome

thanks

You should be able to run 35 drums, which would give you the 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern.

There was an 18" high clearance accessory wheel available for the wide five pattern, but those are realllllly rare.

well i was thinking maybe some other brand's spoked wheel rim would be able to be stripped and the wide 5 center used....are there any sites out there with alot of 30's type stuff...i seem to keep finding 40's/early 50's which is what im going for with my other car...not alot of 30's....im thinking of using 38 as my year of build and try to not have anything newer then that...liek a car someone was building to run at the lakes in 38/39...im assuming a very light car with say an aluminum speedster body would stop alright with 36 brakes...

thanks zach
