The ones that say "hi" and that's it?
I get at least one a day ...from different people on hotmail, they all just say Hi.....

What are the purpose of these? I just wonder what would happen if you should reply? Not going to ...just wondering.

Speaking of unsolicited e-mails, is it just me or are there entirely too many folks overly concerned with the size of my penis? And who the hell have they been talking to? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I get the penis enlargement ones too! Go figure.
I have to keep checking to make sure I don't have one.
I'd like one though.

Yes. But that's not my question. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Could you email me with your spindle setup? You have the early Ford spindles or small, commonly referred to as Anglia, I believe? Thanks.

anti spam programs, by and large, suck. the variables of mail that you would LIKE to get are too great.

to avoid getting spam, this is what i do, and my main address has never recieved a single spam mail:

sign up for a free email account somewhere, mine's at hotmail. if ever you need to enter an email account when downloading software, working on a newsgroup, whatever, use your 'dummy' address. you can check it every now and then in case it has something you need, but in general you can just delete everything in it.

whenever posting an email address on the web, perform a simple encryption... my spam address is "djcoolin AT hotmail DOT com"... a human wanting to write to you will immediately understand what the address is supposed to be, but a web trawling bot will not recognise it to be anything other than text on a webpage. for example, in the next three days, the fictional email address i_made_this_up_to_make_a_point@hotmail.com will get pummelled with spam.

so you really don't need an anti spam program, and if you do you'll miss out on mail you actually wanted. just be careful with where, and how, you post your information.

I have used this one, it lets you look at ALL your e-mail while still on your ISP server. Then you can black list and bounce back the unwanted ones. It did not stop all but by bouncing them back as undelivered then it got me off of a lot of list. Read the info on the site and decide for yourself.

Get a Yahoo account. I used to get so much porno, debt free, penis stuff in my hotmail account. I still get 60 of these messages per day on that account. Nothing gets into my Yahoo account.

I got one that was "Attract Me with Big Breasts." Frankly, I find men with big breasts to be a turn off http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And doesn't it seem to defeat the purpose when they send spam about anti-spam programs http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hey root,
yea I've been gettin' a bunch o' those latley an' others like MS updates, emails from nonexistant system administrators, ect all from strange non matchin' email accounts an' they all have attachment of some sort or another.
Turns out all the attachments are all infected with:
W32/Swen@MM virus, it's a worm check it out here:
W32/SWEN@MM (http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=helpCenter&hcName=swen)
It seems computers infected with this send out these an' other emails that the virus generate (yes, this virus generates a bunch of new an' different emails that it send out).
I've been dealin' with this crap for more than three weeks now.
Conseider yourself for warned.

BTW:
Sendin' SPAM to sell SPAM blockin' software is extorsion in my book.
Fuck 'em all.
