Sorry to interrupt the whine-about-how-trandy-rat-rods-have-become ( http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) fest, but check out the rear spring.

Interesting setup, don't think I've seen it before. Looks like it's 1/4 eliptic but turned sideways. Hmm...
P.S. those headers are queer.

Lose the cross in the grille, the air cleaners, & fix the exhaust & it'd be perfect, IMO. I like the engine choice- not the typical SBC!

nice car but lose the (RAT ROD) trinkets and it would be cool for a fiberglass car

What if a "cool" HAMBer had built it? Would it be "over" then? Weren't you bitching about a lack of tech posts a day or so ago?
Shit, I need to stay in the garage..
It's funny. Did you read the whole add? They have more. "Other unfinished rat rod rolling packages available from Gibbon Fiberglass" It's the mass marketing of Rat Rods. It's not gonna keep you from building another car, that's on you. And I'm not worried about what everyone else is doing or I wouldn't be building the things that I am. Guess maybe you got some stress going on. If you're so worried about a waste of bandwidth don't f#ckin'post.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If it really is over, I need to know how to get this "Von Dutch" tattoo removed. Sonny Barger used to use a milwaukee 7" grinder, but I think that might "sting a little bit"

Hatch...forget the grinder. We use single edge razor blades at the shop... and a generous amount of Whiskey. Works everytime!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Looks like cleaver marketing from another manufacturer who watched the RIDES RAT ROD show... Could it be an entirely new generation of American Graffiti/ ZZtop wanna be's will be inspired and some dealer will cater to it? All I gotta say is if some dude with a RICER watched the before mentioned program and got geeked up about a "rat rod" and THEN buys a Gibbon toy INSTEAD of a HonDA. GREAT!!!! After he makes some mistakes and learns the REAL DEAL...welcome to the "Club".
Hell even guys who buy STreet BEASTS realize after the fact it was slick marketing and then they sell out to buy a car that has real proportions.... My 2 cents... I can't hate it.... REMEMBER, there are more 32 Roadsters on the road than Henry EVER produced. Don't knock the aftermarket. It's half the reason you have cool parts to bolt on (read that MOON, Pete & Jakes, Lokar, Coker...Etc).... Just enjoy the Cheesy promoting http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The cars were getting allot of attention.

i dont see what you guys are crying about.sure,"rat rods" have become popular, and i personally have never been one for 'glass cars, but let's put this in perspective.it's got a '60 engine..that's older than mine.those air cleaners?i've seen an equal amount of arguments for people who thought they were cool and who thought they were stupid.a ton of those parts seem to be original steel pieces,he DIDNT stick ugly disc brakes on the front, and those headers?granted, they do look a little out of place, but what's to keep you from just bending them back or forward to make them cooler,or just replace them?granted,i dont care too much for the buckets in the back (how are you supposed to get into them if the backs of the front seat are fixed, and why wouldnt you just stick a Moon gas tank back there?) that doesnt seem too hard of a fix..i think if you just took the back seats out and sold them, you could make some $$all in all,it's a decent lookin car with a glass body.big deal.just like with everything that becomes popular there's a trend following it and they're tryin to make some money off of it.it's not like any one of us on here have never driven or built a car that's primered or were the 1st to think of it,so why do we all get so upset when an "outsider" takes one of our "cute" little ideas and turns it into a trend?you guys CANNOT tell me that if someone were to join the board rite now and show you that as their car you wouldnt think it'd be fit for HAMB material.there's nothing wrong with a car with a glass body, and deciding to paint it flat is THEIR choice.it's not your car, wasnt your build,GET OVER IT.i'd personally rather see one of my friends buying that thing than running out and getting a PT Loser(TM).just because the guy who built it decides to try and sell it as a "rat rod" doesnt mean you should get all hot and bothered about it.the builder doesnt know you like hot/rat rods, doesnt know you build them, and more than likely doesnt CARE either.he's not interested in you.he's out to sell this to the guy who doesnt wanna build it himself and make some fast $$ on it.even if it got to the point where like it's been said "97 parts available at Wal-mart" i really wouldnt care.actually,i'd be kinda happy now that cool parts are available somewhere,as long as they're not "new" style and just a cheap rip off of something that WAS cool and tryin to BE cool.sorry to turn this into a rant.just saying my opinion.now, hopefully, everyone'll do like i am and forget how "tragic" it is that some high roller they've never met and probably will never meet wants a "rat rod" and get back to working on their cars.happy motoring

Man I hope so!!! I'm hording a set of 15" Original Brush finish Boyds.... not that B.Coddington crap http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I agree with you, it was just funny to me. The big companies jumping on the bandwagon. It's the gentrification of the term "rat rod". It's the hot thing and all the builders are hot on it. Personally I'm not a fan of the term and when I get my roadster body here it'll be merely a hot rod.

All I got to say is those are the ugliest damn headers I have ever seen. Period. Even if you are not on your period. Also, is it the camera angle, or is the pinion angle off on it as well?

The headers, air cleaner, iron cross and the horn suck. Otherwise, it seems alright but a little too much like too many others.

More of the same.....it dis, it's dat. A car, err a rat. I like this, I don't like that. Yes, the pipe's look like spider leg's. Let 'em run with the fad.....'cause soon it will fade. The more thing's change the more they stay the same.

It was on there a couple times before the nationals. Highest I saw it go was about 9K with no sale. If they actually market those seats - reasonably priced - they may have actually hit on a great product. Beats the hell out of $400 alum. ones.

I LOVE the headers... they make the motor look like a big giant spider!!
And we all know spiders are mean and scary!

I like it. I don't like the headers, and maybe the aircleaners. But the car is cool. I like the way it sits! I don't care if it's glass. Sometimes I prefer glass to steel. If I ever own a 32 Ford, it will be glass. My 15 year old 26 T is glass. There is only so much steel left, that's why the prices are so high. Dean

I think most guys ought to get a hold of the "lil pages and see how hotrods were really built "lots of "experts" who dont have the slightest idea of '50s cars. In my day that POS would have been laughed off the street except no one built anything close to it, yea maybe in the cartoon section of Stroker McGurk. Body is great motor rocks Aircleaners and pipes suck IMO

I've just never understood why so many people get so upset about what OTHER people have or are doing.
If they aren't burning down your house, raping your woman or pissing on your shoes (or doing the same to a neighbor), who cares? IT DOESN'T AFFECT YOU.
