View Full Version : Aussie Intro
Max 460
08-12-2004, 03:18 AM
G'day all, thought I'd throw out a quick heelo / intro.
Max from Geelong, Australia. A very good friend of mine (PEDDRO) led me to the HAMB as my hot rod tastes have finally begun to mature!
I'm a Manufacuring manager working in the Powertrain division of Ford Australia (background as a manufacturing engieer)
I've been into cars and all things mechanical for the majority of my 30 short years. Car wise at the moment I live out of an XR8 Falcon Ute for daily transport and my 460 Big Blocked '73 XB Falcon Coupe for real driving times.
I'm heavily into bikes, road and dirt. My haven is my shed, and I can usually be found in there with any number of projects on the go.
I don't know a lot about rods as yet, however, I think I know what I like (nearly wet myself the other night watching James Hetfield drive his "Beatnik" on the big screen) So I'm here to learn, and hopefully help out where I can.
Cheers guys. (so much for the "quick" intro hey!)

Hey Max,
Seeing as it's just about 3:00 a.m (EST), I get honors of being the first guy on the (US) east coast to welcome you to the HAMB... WELCOME! Great intro and no doubt you will find this a cool place to hangout and fuel those "maturing hot rod tastes". Hehe. And seeing as how you're from Australia, I get to ask what the hell Jim, Bones, Rob, and the boys from MO have been doing since Peter G called it quits? Nice to meet you, Max!

What better way than to celebrate my 900th post, welcoming someone from this side of the globe. I don't get here much these days but it is very informative and quite funny sometimes, then again, it get's downright outlandish as well.

Welcome to the HAMB!
There's plenty of people here that don't know shit about traditional hot rods... so you'll fit right in!
Just post pleny of stuff about your big block 460 '73 street machine and you'll be fine.

Max's here purely to learn the hot rod ways. I pointed him in this direction. Aside from satisfying the curiosity of a few of the guys here (re: the coupe), you guys'll find that Max can provide some very valueable insight into engine production, etc., being involved daily in the production of arguably Ford's best (and not offered in the States!) production V8, apart from other Ford Oz product. Plus he helps me out heaps and will be taking an active part (storage!!) in the build of my 27T roadster.....even if it is Cadillac powered! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Here's a shitty pic of the coupe:
