I know, it is gold chainer-like to have someone else detailing your car. Or not being traditional enough to even detail it for the scenesters.

Here is what I need: I have my 92 Chevy dually ex-cab truck with a fiberglass shell on the back. It's a huge mo-fo with about 2 cars worth of surface area. It needs a good buffing out, not just wax, but real compound buffing with a power buffer. It is also gloss black, or at least should be more gloss than it currently is. I also have a bad shoulder that really acts up if I do a lot of polishing/rubbing out. I don't have the power buffer either. The truck is just too damn big, so I am looking for a good shop to get it done. The truck needs it to keep looking good.

Does any HAMB'ers have a detailing shop around the SF Bay Area? Or have a friend with one? Would rather help out someone I know or a friend than just take it to anywhere with questionable workers or knowledge. Thanks for any leads. I will put my gold chain back in the drawer now..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hey Terry,

Its a shame your not back in SA, i got the buffer/pads and the Micro Compound to do Black, we'd have that sucker lookin good in no time.
For what they might charge to detail that monster, you might consider buying the Sears buffer we all use here, I think it was like 40-50 bucks, and Compound and pad will run ya another 50-60, but then your set do do all your own painting and buffing. The Sears buffer is really light to so it wouldnt strain your shoulder...just a thought.

Thanks for one non-smartass answer. Seriously does anyone know of a good detail shop in the area?

Here is an idea: I should make Sam do the work since my truck was the one that got all dirty towing the BFD to HAMB Drags. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Actually the truck needed buffing out before the trip, kind of a long term paint going to shit.

I was going to comment on the poor condition of the finish on your truck at Bonneville, Terry, but then realized that it might have gone to hell during the build of the BFD roadster.

Maybe it's time to scuff it and shoot it in any one of the number of dull shades of super-trick suede (also known as "HO-HUM"(TM)).

Just a thought . . .
