Nice car but 32 THOUSAND dollars?!?
Must be a really late '36. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A short while ago asking price was $50,000 and starting was 45 thou. $4500 might be about possible...he's only off by one order of magnitude. How much closer can we reasonably expect?

The ridiculous price reflects his complete lack of knowledge. He's owned it for 20 years and all that time has believed it to be a '36 because that's what the title says! Dumbass probably thinks it's a Roadster too- because the title says so! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Just like the new guy with the Model A saying it's a '29 when it's obviously a '30- again because the title says so. If this is thae case I'm gonna start retitling Yugo's as Ferrarri's! Obviously some people are buying in that don't know squat!

HOLY CRAP, that is in my hometown. I've never even seen that car before. I'll have to ask Dad if he knows the guy.

Ha Ha, Dad said at that price, he'll have it another 20 years. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Didn't know the guy either. That's suprising. He knows everybody down there with a car.

My Pops is a car dealer, and he always told me the simple formula:

1. Twice the doors, Half the price

2. Top goes down, the price goes up

Basically, 4 door sedans will always bring less dough than 2 doors, wagons, or convertibles.

Hey, if your dad does happen to know this guy maybe you and pops could go over to his place and kick him in the nuts a few times for being stupid http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Remember, good follow through is the key to a solid nut buster.

maybe he thinks those damned street rodders are asking that much and getting it- that his car should be worth as least as much as one of them darned abortions..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, I don't think he's the moron. Especially if some dentist bites on his add. Didn't cost him much to find out.
Remember when used Harleys suddenly went from $2,000 to 20,000? 65 Mustangs went from $1,000 to $15,000. 68 Camaros went from $500 to $10,000. Deuce grill shells went from $250 to $1600! Never underestimate the stupidity of a medical school or dental college graduate! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There's another sucker born every minute.

It's gonna need a rebuild soon, too. At 85 miles an hour it's got zero oill pressure. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, but 1937 Ford four-doors aren't anywhere near that sought-after. And even if they were, $32,000 would buy you a concourse-quality restoration or two, not a merely decent sedan. Sheesh. A Lamborghini with 85,000 miles would sell for less than that!

Here's an example for comparison:

Some guys just don't care what they have as long as it gets attention.
I came out of a club we were playing at one night and there sat a full fendered, light blue '29 "roadster". This guy comes out with his young girlfriend and I ask "is this yours?" Proudly he says "yeah". I'm looking it over, lots of chrome on the SBC, big ass tires in back, and I say "so someone took a coupe and cut it down huh?". You can see the top had been cut off and the tops of the doors were filled. This guy gives me a dirty look and says, "NO, It's a roadster!". He'd been drinking a bit (he let his girlfriend drive) and he's telling me how he just bought the car and how fast it is and all. I'm not about to get into how he got "taken", he wouldn't have believed me anyway. Wait 'til he tries to sell his "roadster" someday. I hope the next guy's a little wiser.
