I'm looking for an interesting finish for my next bike's frame. When ball burnishing steel, how would one preserve the finish? Clear powdercoating?

From what I know, the object is tumbled in a machine with steel balls, leaves a nice finish.

Powder coat will stick better if there is some texture to grab.

Ball burnishing is one way to deburr complicated parts with lots of edges and corners easily. also it is used to work harden the surface which can make a tougher surface. it can also be used to relieve the stresses near the surface. Ball burnished aluminum castings gets a very high shine and is a very tough good looking surface, but will oxidize over time to a darker color. so a clear powder coat or a clear epoxy would retain the shine.
