I just read a post about air bags and he mentioned that there has been a hamb chop (i think). I have no experience in chopping tops and I am wandering if someone here might be able to guide me on chopping a 28 tudor sedan or else helping. I have a few bucks, food, and my dad could get ya some beer. This is Just an offer but if you got some time on your hands and feel like helpin a kid you could get some beer, food, and/or $

It probably wouldn't be able to happen for a few months seenig how I've got to get another car runnin before i can/ am allowed work on the 28. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

JohnnyB, I have to thank you for the good laugh this morning. If I was anywhere near you I would come and help so I could get hopped up on some Dr. Pepper! I'm not being mean it was just a good clean comment http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Just when you thought all underagers were trying to score beer and weed we find out they really just want Dr. Pepper and a chopped top!

johnny,

i suggest you use the search feature and look up "hamb chop" (you might want to go to the "questions and suggestions" portion and read the thread called "how to use the search engine" first). you'll find several threads on it. it'll take a while to read them, but will be worth your while. after seeing what it's all about i think you'll know if it's something you're intersted in looking into.

both hamb chops were held on the west coast 'cause that's where the folks are who put them on.

there has been, however, at least one car chopped by hamb folks (mostly hambers anyway) where they all met at one guy's shop for a weekend and performed essentially the same job, just not an officially sanctioned "hamb chop". there's no reason why you and some of your local hambers couldn't do the same thing.

i have to say from reading your comments that i believe you would make a very good candidate for a hamb chop.

I remember like last year i was giving a 48 chevy coupe, basicly to scrap it and keep the cash.. Had to do all the leg work but atleast i would make a buck.. In stead i thought of rebuilding it and making it a low budget rod...

Frankly ,before i relized how much ita cost me to get the frame rolling around, i had already posted on here, thinking i'd get some help or possibly a Chop..

Got bashed a while, but alteast i learned a few things.

First the car has to be atleast 90% complete.. Its gotta run or drive to be entered into a Hamb Chop..And basicly, i couldnt see this thing go any further with out help so I sold it and made a quick buck..

Go do some research on the basic parts.. Start collecting and saving , and you might just have a hamb chop in the future.. Remember , One of the hosts, "Killer" said the basic chop costs, come around 1000 bucks.

Itta be cheeper for a Sedan, but take in consideration that you want to build this for less than 5 bills..

Good luck steve

There have been a few posts on here in the last few weeks on Pre-War Chops. Read those, maybe get Tex Smiths book on Top Chops. Looks like you have some interst in the area. Biggest thing is to find someone with a welder or at least a set of torches.

Go for it!!

You want it chopped? Maybe you need to hang around with a local car club? Two years ago we all took a week of, Chopped Chads 36 ford pickup (we did it the hard way, requiring sectioning the doors 1 5/8 vertically.) Last year we took some days off and gutted a 49 chev and redid the drivetrain with late modle stuff. This summer we took some days off and chopped my bug.
So Yeah, The Road Devils can chop.
