View Full Version : my dedication to building a hotrod
well, ive been trying to get a day off work for a couple weeks so i could go up to orange county and pickup a set of the american stampings 32 rails for my hotrod. well i looked at the schedule for work and it said i had wed off, so me and a buddy made plans to go pick em up on wed monrning, because the fellow thats selling them has to leave wed evening for bonneville, if i dont get them wed monrning then i have to wait 3 weeks until he gets home. I got into the job this morning and the boss TELLS me, "your gonna need to come into work tommorow. to make a long story short, after telling 3 times that its my day off and i asked him on monday if there was work and he said no, i told him i couldnt go, he kinda brushed me off. well tonight i get a voicemail getting chewed out by him telling me that i dont take my job seriously ect... so after a 10 minute yelling match i might not have a job on sat. I hope i can find a new job before school starts...sorry for the rant. had to vent. whats your oppinion? am i outta line for not working on my day off?
Put this statement in a diary to use at the labor board or unemployment office revue.
Don't get mad, get even!
That boss of yours is amanipulating dickless slug. He deserves to get tied to a bumper and dragged.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Let him fire you, and you said it right. The laws today regarding employee treatment and the procedure to fire people are very stringent. Most Bosses dont think you will do anything, but If I were you, I would stick it to him in the biggest, thorniest, driest way possible. Too many people like that get away with stuff like that.
Take his ass to the Labor Board and dont back down...Even if you dont want your job back...
Then do what Dr. J said...heh http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

wes did you talk to Squeek Bell about 32 rails his prices are hard to beat for a complete ready to go frame ??? and sounds like you need to make as much money as posible before school?? then you can stick it to him
yea, i did talk to him, actually the prices just went up on the rails so everyone that sells them had to up the prices, this guy is selling me them at the old price and hes really close so it just makes it easy. And school starts in a couple weeks so im not gonna be able to put that much money away, but im gonna think this through before i go jump the gun and quit, only thing thats a little discouraging about taking action is this is a big coporation.
Wes, as far as you boss goes, joke'em if they cant take a fuck!

Same kind of thing happened to me a few years back, I didnt show, he got really pissed, and I worked there for another year before I quit and found a better job and boss.
Have fun and show us some proud pics of your shiny new rails. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Employers are generally required to gather evidence on a certain person's 'faults' to provide reasons for their termination. As long as your boss has nothing on you, he can kiss your ass.
Do your job and do it well and you'll be golden for years http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
What AHotRod said times 2.

holy crap was that a fun trip. it was worth getting in trouble over. we saw the worlds fastest 32 coupe in that guys duece rail shop. wes almost killed us 22 times on the way home. those rails stuck out of that datsun by at least 6 feet out the back and then 1 and a half out of the side. next road trip, Long beach for a FE.

Snag a copy of the schedual. Take your day off and then show up on your next schedualed day. Don't say a word just go to work as usual.
When he fires you make a scene, but what ever you do donot take his teeth when you leave (voice of experience). Do make sure that everyone in the general vicinity knows by your scene makeing that you got fired for not working on your schedualed day off. The labor board may want to contact them at a later date.
When you leave the property go straight to the employment office shcedual in hand and apply for unemployment.
Stand your ground.
And stop whinning about it, its just a job. If you have marketable skills you can always find a job.
im not whining about it , you notice the huge smiling grin on the topic of the post? i just thought it was sorta funny, its not a great job, im just a kid trying to put myself through school and build a car.. thanks for the advice
